om617 auto

i have found a pranged merc 300, it has an om 617 in it but its auto, do any of you know if the mog flywheel will fit on the 300, or does anybody have a 300 normal flywheel.

please bare i mind that the 300 will bolt uupto the mog 404 box, so my thinking is the flywheels must be the same size

Piggy,

The mog flywheel and 617 flywheels are very different.
The mog 404 flywheel can be made to fit the 617, but you will need to drill an extra 6 holes for the mounting bolts.
Secondly the 404 flywheel is balanced with the crank and front pulley, it needs to be balanced to zero for use on the 617 engine.

If you do find a 617/ 300 manual flywheel, remember it is a lager diameter than the 404 flywheel and will not fit in the standard 404 bellhousing!

i was hoping you would reply, just waiting for linden's now. so not really that different then 6 new holes would be easy so long as the starter ring lines up with the starter, i am having a big push to get the mog build started and finished as soon as i can as i want to go and play!!
