On suzukis you have to have the clutch in to fire it up, There is somthing about the clutch and sidestand wiring that often catches people out, but can not remember what it is so not a lot of help
I still have the number of a guy I bought some TL bits off for a race bike, there is a good chance he might be able to help, let me know if you want me to give him a ring.

here's some vid from the camera you can see lashed on to the crawler in the pics above,
it shows how much a front difflock affects the steering, it really dosent want to turn but just push straight on maybe halving the amont of steering lock available,

did you sort the wiring problem.
some bike have a saftey switch on the side stand to stop you riding with it down. its a simple push in switch that is located behind where the side stand would rest, so it depresses the switch, when kicked up into place.
these work differntly on different bikes.
some wont start at all with the stand down, some start with stand down and clutch pulled in and some only start with stand up and clutch pulled in.
its usually just a case of connecting the two wires from rear of switch and the it will work.
took me about three hours to figure out on my first bike with it....

Thanks for the offer mate.

The black one should be getting td engine in the new year so might be a bit better?
Cheers and have a good xmas..

Hi folks.
I CANT START MY NEW BUGGY AND ITS DRIVING ME MAD.
I have found a forum for the TL 1000 bikes and the guys are helping me tremendously but there is still a gremlin that is driving me mad.
In short. I have thrown the old incomplete harness away and started with a completely new harness with no modifications. I have left the kickstand swich plugged in and held closed. Also I have left the tip over switch connected in and held upright. The kill swicth and clutch inhibit are both bypassed and I have added the correct resistor into the ignition circuit.
It cranks, the fuel system primes and circulates, the coils spark and if you dribble fuel into the engine during cranking it runs !! But no fuel is coming through the injectors.
Theorys: 1) I have still missed a fuel inhidit somewhere ?
2) The injectors are siezed up (been stood in a shed for years) 3) I have relocated the fuel tank from above the engine to a location beside it. This means no gravity feed but its a high pressure system with a submerged pump and I can see fuel ciculating. 4) Something else stupid like a missing check valve , blocked filter ??
All suggestions welcome I am loosing the will to even look at the bloody thing anymore !
Thanks Mark

Ideas
Have you seen if there is a signal getting to the injectors? You could look for power using a meter or lightbulb/LED
Try feeding in power to an injector and see if it squirts fuel? If injectors take a 12V feed then shove some power down it and see if it trys to run.
Try an see if it is a mechanical or electrical issue.
Its not a spark issue as it is running when you manually add fuel so its probably not a timing issue.

im sorry but i dont have much knowlage on injected bike engines BUT a petrol or deisel car can have problems if there is an air lock in the rails/lines that feed the injectors or it could be that there is a pressure regulator that has locked up

find if theres a signal to the injectors preferably with an led bulb as it has less risk of doing something to the ecu,
got signal? slacken the fuel feed to make sure there is fuel there, if yes the injectors are stuck but that would be un likely for all of them to do it.
no signal? find out what generates the signal for the injectors is it a tdc sensor, crank position sensor, built into the alternator? thats what my moneys on
edit: you seen this? mighty handy me thinks?

Hi Mark, A bit daft but I know the TL has a feed and return to tank, no chance you have got them the wrong way around? are you using the TL pump?
Like I said got bits here if you want them.
Lee.

AFAIK there are no CAN-BUS on a TL1000, atleast I have never seen it on those I have worked on. And the injector's are running on 5 volts if my memory serves me correct.
But I must admit I have never tried to see which parts of the electrical system it could run without, but I would imagine that the easiest solution for you would be to hook it up to a computer and read the fault codes?
Could very well just be a missing sidestand switch or something similar.
Oh and a Merry Christmas to you lot!

Just noticed your mentioning of the tilt switch. These can be some nasty buggers and can do a lot of teasing, go around it, as I really don't think you'll want it on an offroader anyways

Hi Chaps, Happy Boxing day.
Thanks for all the advise, its much appreciated. I think I'm making some progress now, my problem seams to be siezed injectors. Both injectors show the correct coil resistance and there appears to be voltage getting to them during cranking. There is plenty of fuel at the feed rail and yet nothing is being sprayed out. Remember the engine runs when I simply throw fuel in so the injectors do appear to be b######d.
When removed their inlet filters are clear, they don't rattle and there is no sound when I apply 9V. I have soaked their bases in carb cleaner and even tried 10Bar air pressure in reverse throw, nothing is getting through.
Clearly the answer is to buy some new ones when the shops open, but I'm mistified why I can't unblock them ... any thoughts ?
Cheers Mark

Hi Lee. Thanks for the offer mate. I've actually managed to unblock one now so I'm getting there. I have also bought a spare pair on flee bay so no worries. I might ask to borrow your dash at some point to see if I have any error codes. Not long to go now.
Andy told me you are squeezing a Honda V6 into your machine now. Looking forward to meeting up soon.
Mark

OK Mark, not totally sure if I have clocks but I will check, is it ready to go apart from the non start problem?
The honda V6 has now moved on to a Peugeot V6 with more power and torque, it was a toyota v6 before the honda so getting quite a selection of engines around me:oops: See http://muddybuggy.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=492&start=240
I spoke to Baloo last night, I would be up for a bit of a get together in a few weeks time when mine is up and running.

Yeehaa Im there, she runs.
I soaked the injectors in fuel overnight, blew air backwards through them while powered with 12V (Ithink they are rated for 5V) and then as suggested above I hit them hard onto a nylon block upsdiedown. Suddenly click and they work fine again. She fires up and runs beautifully although a bit loud !!
2 days tinkering and I'm done. I also need to scrounge some Nitrogen for the shocks.
Thanks everyone. I will drag it over to Baloo's this week for a blast and some photos.
Nice one Lee, I can't wait to chase you.
Mark
