I've just received 4 new HZJ78 Land Cruisers and when I enter the chassis numbers into Toyodiy.com it tells me they are April 2007. How accurate is this programme? Anyone got a new Toyota with a recent build date come up with the right date?
On the seatbelts there is a little taag telling me at least they are 2010!
Is there any subtle difference between a 2007 and 2010 anyone know?
Thanks.

1994 Toyota Surf

Are these imports or UK ones Jamie?

The frame No (on a Japanese import) or VIN on a European Toyota will be a more accurate indicaton of the date of manufacure. The vehicles could have been mothballed and sold as new in 2010, if there were no changes to the model during that period.
It seems strange that they have 2010 on the seatbelt tags. I've just checked my '94 Surf and the tags on the belts say 1994. Confused

Bought in Gibraltar and shipped over. They've got the 1HZ diesel so can't be sold in the UK. In fact I don't think you can get 78's at all in the UK.
I'm guessing they are 2010 models it's just that the Toyodiy is giving me a bum steer so I won't be using that for part numbers.

If the've come from TGS then I would think it perfectly possible that they were manufactured in 2007 as they hold stock for different markets, also bear in mind that the 78 has changed shape since 2007.

They are the later model shape and a few things like the air condition pipes have a different configuration. I got them from TGS but would have thought they have such a turnover that old age shouldn't be a problem. One has a bit of rust on it around one of the back windows.
I can't justify the price for them either and won't be buying any more in the fore seeable future. They just aren't worth the money and not as reliable as people would have you believe.
I was thinking Toyodiy might only cover models up to 2007 and not include the newer ones so maybe no surprise yours worked Ali.
