Hi guys

I have a cobra cb, not sure of model but when set up and swred up, it is very quiet when someone transmits to you, but fine when i transmit to them, the crackling is also very quiet

I presume this could be a problem is with the speaker? Is there anything i could do.

I dont want to spend much on it as i have already replaced it, but it will do for my tractor!

Cheers

Chris

I would get a communications style extension speaker from somewhere like Maplins and plug it into the extension jack socket in the back. It is unlikely that the audio chip is damaged. They usually pop completely when they go.

Crackling audio can also be cuased by the volume control. Thr part is called a potentiometer and is a variable resistor. The internal contact or the carbon track can become dirty or damaged. Some types there are enough gaps to squirt in some switch cleaner. It may help. If not it needs replacing.

Regards,

Paul.

You can rule out the internal speaker and the external speaker socket by plugging an external speaker in. If that fixes it then the problem is with the speaker or the socket contacts.
