have a read through this

http://forum.difflock.com/viewtopic.php?t=53358

there's a good explanation of how the law stands (in tth UK) in that thread, as I undestand it it's leagal if you have a good reason fo having it at the time you are stopped, so it's probably illeagal to be carrying it most of the time.

I had an axe permanently strapped to the inside of the rear door of the Volvo and on the only occasion the Police spotted it I was filling with fuel on my way to set up an Argyle/Tay Challenge so I had Good Reason. The rest of the time I could have found myself in schtook.

My advice? Make the holder but don't carry the axe unless needed or have it fitted inside a lockable container so it cannot be seen

Thats some good advice.
I keep a saw / knife thingy in the boot of the Vit but its locked at the bottom of an ammo box thats screwed to the floor, a casual glance wouldnt find it.
We have to be very carefull now with the bladed instrument laws

If you're going to keep it locked in a box I would ensure that it's not a quick process to open said box.

If a policeman makes you open it up and they can see that it's definitely not intended for quick access to the axe, I'm sure they would see that it's not designed for attacking people!!!

I'd still be wary though! Confused
