A big thanks & hats off! to Mike97.

Gents
Mike took the time to contact me and ask for relevant photos of my conversion to post on the site, (since my system won't accept uploading piccies to the Difflock site.).

Mike I can tell you have "Mogpox" be warned its a terrible thing! You simply can't get rid of it without a fight! Twisted Evil

I had a petrol 404 a few years back which I used to build a house with and then used it every day as a commuter. It loved gas stations and had a hard time passing one without a hiccough! Rolling Eyes
I sold it only to see it turn up at my shop six years ago as a weed sprayer and the thing is still going strong with a 500 gallon chemical tank on its back !
Enjoy the pictures and post any comments--nice ones please! Rolling Eyes Twisted Evil
Cheers and once again thanks to mike97Dennis

No trouble Dennis, and yes got mogpox Laughing

More progress, cab is back on, and it fits - just.

Drivers side, is good, no cab mods needed, might have to mod the cover slightly to clear the oil filter housing? (the looped oil pipe is only a temp arrangement)

Passenger side not so good, no chance of the standard G wagen inlet manifold fitting, unless I cut the whole floor out! So need to source a different manifold for the job.

more soon......

To avoid foul language probably heard on this side!!! Laughing

Install your stg box/column "loose & hanging" through the floor aperture at this stage before you fix down the cab.
Makes life much more easy--anyway nice piccies, looks good and e mail sent on to you ref manifold--Yes you have Mogpox ! Confirmed!
Dennis

Soren, yes that was my first thought, to cut n shut the manifold, but I don't have access to a Tig welder or similar Crying or Very sad
Is that engine upright or tilted over??

Mick, yep I like that idea, the turbo manifold sits nice and close too the engine. Hopefully I have a 617a manifold on its way soon over the pond - thanks Dennis Wink

bit more progress, a huge thanks to Dennis for shipping a 617A manifold over from the States - it fits perfect, with very little cutting of the passenger floor. The other bonus is using the inlet pipes from the old petrol engine, just had to cut down the metal pipe, easy.

The bolt in the top of the manifold is just a temp blank so I could get it running. Getting close now, just lots of small jobs left. Which is good, I've spent way too much time spannering and need to get out into the mud and play Rolling Eyes

more soon mike

No, its still got its Colorado muck, just the poor mobile photo makes its look better? Anyway soon to be covered in Dorset dirt! and don't mention VAT grrrrrrr.

Question for someone in the know - I noticed when connecting up the throttle linkage, on the back of the injector pump (between the pump and block near the throttle arm) there is a small threaded hole which goes right into the pump, looks like somthing was fitted there? but I don't know what. I can only guess its for a breather pipe? Anyone know? or shall I just plug it with a bolt and forget about it?
thanks
Mike

Hey mike97,

Any chance you'd have specs for the adaptor plate and square bar you'd be willing to share? That save a lot of redundant effort for the community as a whole and I'd really appreciate it too! Also, how's the performance been for that adaptor plate? Allowing the engine to pivot appropriately and handling the stresses well? Is it just mounted on the left side of the block or somewhere else as well? Thanks much!

Not sure how much response you're going to get from a 7 year old post...

Any chance you have any input? I could probably figure out the mount myself.

My main questions are:

How well it works structurally having the whole engine mounted on the front driver side corner like that, further more, from where the a/c compressor used to mount.

Also, what hardware is used for that? It looks like 1/4-3/8 plate, m10-12 bolts so I'd guess if I used 1/2 inch plate with m12 grade 12.9 bolts it should be more than adequate?
