i dont have them yet, but i thought i should check.

i have been offered about 150L of wvo per month.

this is from a second hand kitchen appliance center, and each drum has cooked 5 loads of spuds.

traceys brother works there and its how they test the fryers ect before they are sold on.

nothing else is cooked in the oil, just spuds cut into wedges.

what do i need to do, how do i filter, should i give it a miss and will the musso be ok on it.

i`m still running 100%svo and since i fixed the fuel pump i have no problems at all.

is there anything else i should be doing with the svo?

sorry for the questions, but the novelty of this still hasnt worn off.

Cheers

Ged

should be ok if it's only been used to cook spuds, could be moisture content in there but the fuel filter doubles as a water separator, you will need to drain it more often (when the light comes on)
Problems with wvo are usually caused by animal SPAM which turns to lard and clogs everything up.

i have established that the water content will be very small, and there will be no animal fats present, so i`m making a home filtration system to remove the particles.

now, the plan was to mount one of these

http://www.oilybits.com/pumps/self-priming-nbr-...lpm/prod_181.html

onto a board, and connect two lengths of hose.

one into the "dirty" oil, the other into a container fitted with this.

http://www.oilybits.com/filters/bag-filters/pol...ags/prod_700.html

just one question, at what rate will the wvo pass through one of these filters?

is it like pouring through a funnel, or sort of a drip by drip affair?

cheers

Starts off ok but as the filter gets blocked it slows right down, the best way is to ditch the pump and let gravity do the work overnight.

The filter will regulate the flow.... If you want to do it for free cut the sleeve out of an old shirt, tie a knot in one end and cable tie the other end over the kneck of the drum. Lie the drum on its side on a table with a bucket or another drum with a funnel in underneath.

45 gall drum, top cut off, bit of plywood over the top with some big holes cut in it so those filter bags sit in the holes via their inbuilt top ring, then fill the bags up with waste oil and leave.

The more bags you have, the more oil you can dump in at once and leave overnight.

when i used to filter my old wvo i used 50 micron then a 25 then a 10 then a 5 then the final one was a 1 micron and would take best part of 1 weekend to filter 200l's of oil,i was looking on the oilybits site at these
http://www.oilybits.com/filters/elements-housin...sel/prod_279.html
to use with a elc pump as it was quicker and cleaner and you would only need to pop back into the shed every hour to cheack on it not every 10mins to fill the bags back up
