A little off topic but... We've been having a chat about a few of us southerners going to the Picadilly wood off road site at the beginning of next month if you are interested?

I'm interested, however, if you look at my other posts, you'll see I'm a complete novice, and haven't yet got roll cage or proper recovery points...
In your opinion, would I be ok, or would I be better off until I can at least sort out decent recoveries?
Oh, I have got pretty heavy duty bumpers/rock sliders if that makes any difference to recovering compared to the standard crappy towing points?
Cheers,
Sam

Hi sam,
You should be ok without a rollcage, I haven't got one... yet
It's fine as long as you take it easy...
Because an SJ is so light, you would really, really have to get it stuck to need to pull it out that far. I've been recovered a few times using the front recovery eye, as long as you don't use a snatch rope and take it easy you're not likely to snap it off
What bumpers have you got? Some have recovery points built in
Have you been to an off road day before? You'll have fun I guarantee it
I've made a page in the events section so we can stop clogging the tech sections with chat
