does anyone have or know anywhere on the net that has schematics of a shogun/ pajero front hub assembly. i was working on the suspension the other day and the hub fell apart and i could see the roller bearing in the back was completely knackered. im guessing there is meant to be a roller cage but this has gone, not a trace of the cage left in the hub but the roller pins were left. or can anyone tell me what its proper name is so i can order one.
cheers in advance.

from what you have said , it sounds the wheel bearing has fallen to bits.
if my ageing brain is working , they are`nt that hard to do , very much like a landrover. caliper off and then the freewheeling hub, two little screws and then the locking ring .

this is what im confused about, its not the wheel bearing. the wheel bearing is fine, i drove it to mot and back (50 mile round trip). its the bearing that stops the drive shaft from slopping about in the hub. the wheel bearing and hub are one unit (so to speak) the shaft is only held in by the splines and circlip. Confused

then they must have been left in from a previuse failed bearing. theres nothing else in there. just the inner and outer bearings, i can`t remember if its one piece or not.
what year is it.

edit
found it ,its a 97
step by step is the closest i can find.

cheers bud, that helped a bit but im still confused.
what is the silver ring on the shaft on the 15th picture?
im thinking it must be a shaft locator or something.
am i right in thinking there are 3 parts to the front hub assembly; main hub unit, inner hub that disc attatches to, and then the drive shaft that slots in the inner hub.

a couple pics.

probably wont help but best i can do without stripping the lot down.
with the shaft pushed out slightly you can see where the bearing should be.

Hi, done this a fair few times, bit of a sod of a job, but easier to unbolt bottom ball joint than actually split it I find.

The bearing and thrust washer feel exactly same as the part you get from Mitsi, however the rear oil seal from milners does not seal very well i think (mine is regularly dunked). Last time the bearing went, it had only lasted a few months Confused . The mitsi designed one is much better

Make sure the washer is fitted correct way round, think its grooves facing diff.

Worth checking tuther side, grab cv boot near hub and pull back/forward, up down, there should be very little play if any at all.

cheers for that andy. its all sorted now, the needle bearing was a genuine mitsi part as it come in mitsi labelled packet from milner, everything seems to fit ok but as ive said, only time will tell. give it a few dunks and a bit of sand and see what happens. was a pig of a job but managed it. the worst job was the bearing in the diff tube, had to be replaced as it was totally shot Rolling Eyes ended up slicing the edge with angle gringer, smashing the bearing to pieces and pulling it out in bits Shocked
feels a million times better now and there is no more metal gringing or clicking noise Cool

had to do mine a few times (gets some serious abuse through some silly mud) , if it goes again the bearing number is B2012, give that number to your local bearing specialist place and you can get them for less than a fiver! Wink
