Been a bad week for the P38.
was overheating when towing and needed a new rad as the old one was blocked inside.
Found the cause of the overfueling left bank lamda sensor isnt working (not sure which is left bank)
Then every now and then it wont open with the key fob and the imobiliser is always activated and the dash says press remote.
Got a local garage to plug their dianostics in and the doors worked every time but wouldnt start and the dash was blank.
got another garage to look at it and they plugged the computer in and needed to force the ecu to learn secuity code.
all was wel for 3 days and today it left me stuck in Focus carpark fob wouldnt open the doors and the dash said wrong keycode entered so wouldnt start left it for 3/4 hour tried again and worked fine.
Booked into main dealer for Tuesday see what they can do to stop the problem. i wondered if it was the key itself.
Not looking forward to their diagnosis but desperate not to get stuck every time i switch off.
cheers nick

Got a phone call at 3.55 in the afternoon from the dealer saying quote "ive been looking at your car all day everything is working fine cant get a fault its most probably the reciver for the key fob which has an intermittent fault"
I then pointed out i only delivered the car at 2.30 pm and there was an ackward mumble from him.
A new one is £175 plus vat
so do i get a secondhand one and try it? the reason for this is it apears to only be a guess thats what is it. When asked if he had done any diagnostics he stated that there was no point as it wouldnt tell anything at this age of p38 (1997), he said he couldnt test any of it as it was working ok and this is also a common fault he doesnt have the reciver in stock anyway.
so i find out tomorrow when i collect it how much it cost me for him to stand by the door and press the remote and come up with this diagnosis.
he also said that i can have the manual door code which would get me started if it happens again
the battery is a new one a few weeks ago and its the right one for the car.
Tried a wire from the battery to the starter when it wouldnt turn over and it wound over fine but wouldnt start as there was no spark or fuel.
Thanks for letting me know which is left bank i can change that now.
Cheers Nick

Right picked up the car today
They diagnosed the fault (hopefully) fitted new button cover to my keys gave me the 4 digit eka code but wouldnt tell me how to use it and washed the car all for £51
Not a bad price (as long as i dont add the three and a half hours off work to deliver and collect the car) hopefully the diagnosis is right or it was all a waste of time.
Didnt get the reciver fitted by them as it is secondhand and i cant collect it till tomorrow.
Dennis any help with how to use the eka code would be appreciated but im hopeing with the replacement reciever i never need to use it.

Cheers Nick
