Hi guys. i've been playing with friends mogs and other offroad vehicles for far too many years and always fancied a 416 or similar but as they are so rare in Ireland i quickly realised that a 404 would be what i'd probably end up with. i have PDF manuals etc for 404 and know a fair bit about them.
Now just to be interesting yesterday i was unexpectedly offered a 411.119 mog for a starting price of £1500 (too much). it was used in forestry (so should be tax and MOT free) and was driven in and parked at the back of a shed 20 years ago and then surrounded by other vehicles, so photos are hard to take.

it clearly has been worked hard in its previous life and has oil leaks from the thrust/torc tubes and a lot of free rust and i don't know enough about the 411 type.

Now for the questions;
1 does anyone know where PDF manuals for the 411 are on the net so i know what i'm letting myself in for if i buy it?
2 bearing in mind that it hasn't moved in 20 years, what is likely to have seized?
3 i believe the axles and gearbox are the same/similar to the 404 is this true?
4 it has the origional (om636??) diesel engine in what is a sensible/liveable top speed for this vehicle?
5 How many gears has the vehicle got;

there is a additional lever i don't recognise (arrowed), there are no PTO's or hydraulics on the vehicle so is this a control lever for a crawler/splitter box?
6 Can a rusted clutch pressure plate be released without removing the engine?
7 if the engine does have to come out must the cab be removed as there is a HUGE rollover cage in the way?
8 Are 411 cab panels still easily obtained and at typical MERC prices or are others making them or do i buy a mig welder and start practicing welding again.
9 ANY other practical or useful info i should know about 411's.

Thanks in advance.

411,s are very small 1.8 diesel lumps top speed is a blistering 28mph some say they can get them above 40 but on a 67" wheelbase its certatly fast enough
the lever you have pointed out is the pto lever it might of had one at some point
it does look to be in a very poor state but if its cheep enough might do as a play toy
manuals i dont know of any pdf ones on the net and manuals fetch £100+ even second hand
as for any thing being sieze some times the gear box lever if its not run for awhile(due to only being plash fed with oil
brake will need to be looked at

Intrigued as to whether you bought the 411 in the end?

It looks restorable to me, but things likely to need attention are:
Brake hoses and lines.
Brake drums and cylinders.
Main hub seals
The floor will almost certainly have rusted out of the cab too.

Bear in mind that there's loads of potential for 'hidden wear' in the 411 or any other 'mog for that matter, particularly in the propshafts within the torque tubes.

Lots of heartache, but lots of fun too when its done.

not yet i'm waiting to see if he realises that £1500 is a bit too much for a vehice that hasn't moved in 20 years with no idea what will / will not work.
