Now i have my jeep on the road a while im lookin for a cheaper way to run it. 2001 l200 2.5td. Its quite hard to run so was lookin at possibly twin tank or makin my own bio. Most of the driving is 15mile in the morning and 15mile in the evening weekdays, and lots of local driving at the weekend. due to this im thinking twin tank wont be much use as heating up and cooling will mean its not used much. Im lookin at bio any thoughts on what i should do.

15 miles is plenty, providing your cooling system is upto spec I would be looking at switchover within 1 mile unless its very cold ambient temps.
Purge time should be half a mile max.

DIY is not expensive..a good heat exchanger from biotuning was 49 quid and 45 quid for a pollak valve,10 quid for a second filter from the scrappy,20l jerry can fuel tank for the doosil.Hardest bit was having all the pipe connectors and reducers when you get started cos the hoses are a bit o a mixtyre of 6mm,8mm,10mm for fuels and 16mm and 12mm for the cooling/heating system...so best to draw it oot on paper first.Apart from that...plenty fags and a steady supply o tea.....peeeece of p**s
Oh and some good advice from NAT...ta by the way
That was my experiance on a 300tdi and glad i took the plunge...1/2 mile on dino in morning and same at night = 1 mile a day dino, rest on wvo

i run a twin tanked 05 warrior without a problem, in this weather shes on the veg in 3 miles, mines a smartveg system but you could do it yourself for around £150, biggest problem is were to locate the heat exchanger, as your aware theres not a lot of spare room under the bonnet on them, depending on the cost of your veg oil you can regain the outlay in two to three tankfulls of fuel, personally i would advise no less than a 25 ltr aux tank, because your not flushing back to it you find the startup and flush uses more diesel than you would normally, you dont lose the diesel though, it ends up in the veg oil which is not a problem

It makes your veg oil more expensive though!Youre dumping a lot of good diesel into the veg (Main)tank.
Cant you have the changeover just before the IP...short flush back to the diesel (aux )tank..only a little veg oil goes back into the diesel which is fine in the warmer weather....just dont let it get too contaminated.Or ave another changeover on the return and time the change

to mod my smartveg system to do that would be too complex, way i see it is i save money hand over fist on the fuel anyway so a few quid per month - which in fact is not wasted, is nothing compared to the costs if i was running her on 100% dino
i wont accept any veg going into the dino tbh, get a cold snap and the L200`s are a swine to start with veg in the mix unless at normal running temps
