Another for Rossko I think.
Just loaned my 3.9Auto Disco to youngest son while his Citroen C5 is in for work again !!
He phoned to say its cutting out on gas after the run down the M1 from Bradford to Sheffield. It will fire and tick over but then cuts out when asked to move the vehicle.
Sounds like its starved of fuel but I filled the tank at lunch time and done only 12miles before he picked up the Disco. I had no problems with it after the fill.
Its a single point Marani with tank in the boot. Fitted new regulator 4 years ago together with new solanoids and fillters. More recent re-piped from twin cill tanks to single in boot ( two years ago ).
What should I be checking if and when I get the Disco back to-morrow evening?

Fill the tanks and see how much you get in.
Ignore the dashboard gauge which tells you only about one tank, and even that unreliably.
Bear in mind a fault could affect the outlet of just one tank, leaving it permanently full.
Also youngest son may have an immensely heavy foot in someone else's toy and used gas at twice the rate of ordinary folks ...

Thanks Rossko,
Tank gauge gave up coupe of years ago, always use the trip meter.
Your correct about the heavy right boot of youngest son.
He managed to get it from Sheffield to Selby this morning on gas but kept cutting out.
This evening as he left work it failed to start on petrol so think there is an ignition problem.
AA failed to solve so its had a ride home and now sitting in the drive. Will investigate this weekend but suspect ignition module on side of dizzy or coil are at the bottom of this.
