Hi there here is my UNIMOG 404 chassis drive train and gearbox, mated to a TOYOTA FJ55 with a 2F straight 6 engine... I think I have managed to annoy puritans from both ends of the spectrum (Iron Pig Lovers and Mog Diehards)....but hey....its such fun!

I'm digging it! You have any links for a build writeup anywhere? Would love to see more of it.

I'm digging it too.
It looks like a good fit not a body perched on top job so thumbs up for doing it right.
I would definitely sooner see a 'Mog modded than scrapped!

Finally got around to finishing up a few projects. I made a new petrol tank that sits on top of the chassis underneath of the cargo bed. It holds about 150 liters give or take, putting all the weight just over the rear tyres. Made a new cargo bed as well that is a tipper. With 12 volt conversion one battery sits behind passenger seat in the cab just fine. Old petrol tanks have been taken off of the chassis. I just have to re-route a new exhaust system and nothing will be left hanging exposed under the chassis. Oh...and a 6mm bashplate that goes under the gear box and protects that linkage arm that operates the front differential. The new bed is a 3 point mounting system, two hinge points at the rear of the chassis to allow the bed to tip up. Front mount is similar to the original style that allows the chassis to flex. I just pull the quick disconnect pin that runs through the bushing and tip the bed up.

forgot to add, the tube work that makes up the new bed is also set up as an air tank...so I can air up before going out and with a slinky yellow hose I can air up tires, work an impact wrench and what not off of it

It has been a blast over here. I have enjoyed the UK, but it has been about 7 years now since I was in the states so I am ready to do some wheeling back in home territory again. I have a mate that runs a garage over in Germany and we are thinking of building a beast to enter in the Berlin to Breslau run So Europe has not seen the last of me yet. I also have plans for a 2nd Mog chassis to hook an 8 liter chevy v8 to the Mog running gear for a tube frame toy. So many ideas so little time and finances! I will definitely stay on the forum and in touch. I have learned to much on here to give it up

Hi Dan,
Your Mog is looking great, looks like you have been busy! Looking forward to seeing the pics of it in action when you get home.
Was nice to have met you, swop notes and parts etc. The pto is in good use now rigged up to the hyd pump.
Have a safe trip back to the states, keep in touch.

Mike,
That looks fantastic! I envy the hydraulics, but admit they scare me at the same time. Even on my tipper bed I created a manual lift just so I didnt have to put the hydraulics on it. Looking good! Stay in touch

My mog:
Pretty Standard 404.1.
Has the optional air brakes - pretty standard other than its new colour! [its an advertising feature, honest!)
After years of v8's and buggy type things, quite enjoying the challenge..... amazes me.

Quite standard apart from that queer tank under the steering guard!
This has just reminded me I was supposed to look for those heater pipes we talked about at Stoke Show.
I must get my Landy project finished so I can get back to my 'Mog

I believe its part of the winter pre heating set-up?
It still has some pipework from that to the rear of the engine bay towards the fuel tank and battery box.
Talking of heater pipes, anybody have one from the drivers side outlet to the passenger footwell?
