Ive got a 1.0ltr volkswagen lupo for spares,, has anyone fitted the engine into a sj?.. The wife has the same car for work,, and its really a torquey little motor. I was hoping to use the 410 gearbox.

Most VW engines can be fitted to Sammy gear boxes via a Acme Adapter plate..

Personally I wouldnt bother with the conversion for such a small engine..

Find a petrol or diesel SPAM engine instead.. but you'll still need a Sammy gear box

the 1.0 lupo engines are only 50hp... and 65ft/lbs of torque
a carbed samurai is like 66hp. and 76 ft/lbs
a vit engine... is 80hp, and 93 ft/lbs

That was my line of thinking,,,,the wife has a lupo 1.0ltr, and goes really well compared to the sj. Its a revvy little engine, and its light. As i only use the truck for trials it seemed a reasonable converstion.

I would expect the zuk lump to produce more bhp when it's done lots of miles

that said the last couple I have bought ran like dogs un till I set plug gaps and timing etc

isn't that lupo lump an ecu motor- loose some of the derv advantages
