hi lads im going to be chipping my td5 defender 90,i have had a look on the web and there are alot of people doing it with some very different prices,some say they need the motor to do it proper but as most of them are 500 miles away thats not an option,some offer a post your ecu down to them and they re chip it and send it back again i am not that keen on doing,any help and advice would be great cheers lance

There's chipping & there's remapping, two different things for older & newer models. I think from memory 2003 onwards the ECU can be remapped (Flash re-programmable) which would be worth looking at. Bell Auto Services, Autologic, TD5 Alive to name but a few. A lot of local non-Land Rover independents do Autologic (Some in our club)

Performance HQ in Broughty Ferry (formerly Dastek) did my TD5 and did a fine job of it.

ive just had a snope about and found that wallace performance in bridge of don does the dastec unichip but dosnt list land rover on his site so i shall give them a bell in the morning,was tower garage listing as a contact on the old buchan site

well lads i have gone for a full stage 2 set up from gary at td5 alive,it consists of a itg panel filter,egr removal,decat removal pipe along with middle straight through pipe,samco silicone hoses,larger intercooler,turbo boost box and the all important custom remap,it should be running around 180 bhp and 400nm of torque Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy ,i should be back on the road middle of next week so i shall let you know how i get on.

thats the 90 all sorted its got around 180bhp and well over 400nm of torque and it goes like **** of a shovel,low down grunt,top end,even bouncing of the rev limiter,its got it all,i cant speak highly enough of gary at td5 alive,he is a busy man but he will always find time for you on the phone,if anybody is thinking about using gary mention your in the buchan of roaders because theres a 10% discount to be had,he had not heard of the club so i soon put him right,give him a bell you wont regret it ! Very Happy
