Has anyone found a use for the Electrical plug on the dashboard? ie: has anyone found a male plug that will fit? I,m thinking of getting an orange rotating beacon for my 1300L for when I,m "going slowly" I would like to utilise the dash plug rather than wire the beacon in somewhere. Or is it a case of buy them from your local Unimog dealer, if so how does the plug come? any variations? (or is it a standard type female that I can get a male for from my Local 'Maplins' electrical supplier?)

Thanks normal bloke, if this plug is a hella standard type then it might just fit the Handlamp plug on my Pinzgauer too. The sockets look exactly the same inside.

I took mine out and wired in a standard fag socket. For my purposes it has more uses.I also do not own anything with a Hella plug.Mind you, thinking aloud, my U1000 is 12v, and if your 1300 is 24v(guess) it would not make much sense putting a fag lighter socket in!

Doh!

Yes mine is 24V, I,ve seen and heard all the arguments for both, I,ve gotten used to 24V and know suppliers of all sorts of stuff, so I,m happy with it. I,m just waiting for one of those Hella to fag lighter adapters to arrive, I am going to treat the MOG to an orange magnetic rotating beacon. Do you happen to know what the hollow tube up the middle of the back body is on a 1300L, yours may not have it, but you might know someone with one? I can only think that it is for carrying a straight bar? it has a retainer over the end of the hole. (If it did have one once, its long gone from mine) Thanks again for your helpful knowledge.

Hollow tube on the back body?Do you mean the back of the cab or the back of the main bed itself?
Mine has a tube up the rear of the cab, and this is the MB mount for a rotasting beacon.

Try and post a photo if you're not sure.
