I thought the heater in my newly purchased Disco 200tdi was completely knackered but I've now realised that it still blows out hot air when in the windscreen position.

However, it only blows out luke warm air when in the foot or face positions.

I originally thought I needed a new thermostat when the engine took a long time to get to temperature (with or without the heater on) but when I drove it last night with the heater blowing on the screen it got to temperature after a normal amount of time (several miles or so).

So any ideas on what's up ???

Check the cables that operate the disribution flaps are working/connected right....

Or the ducting off the main heater box hasn't come adrift....

Bertie.

Thanks Bertie,

The flaps seem to be moving.
Air does come out at some force, it's just not hot. I don't know if one pipe blows the air and another directs the actual heat ?!?!

I'll have a proper look at it over the weekend, just wondered if anyone had had this problem before.

Cheers,

Ollie

200TDI Disco does not provide warm air from the FACE vents.

But the foot positions should be warm.

its possable the heater matrix it self is blocked , have you tried to back flush it ?. put a pressure washer in the bottom pipe off the heater and wash it thru.

firstly make sure that there's no airlocks in the system by bleading it and check that the flaps and the valve are working correctly/valve is traveling to full limit if that dousn't improve things then try giving the matrix a clean internally and externally.
use some rad flush for a while then drain it all out and back flush it, refill with a good mix.

Yep, I think Nathianal and Theosmith are right.
The feet area is warm and the screen is fine so I guess it's OK.

Strangely I thought it was the same heater set up as the RRC but never noticed (or can remember noticing) this 'feature' on the 2 of them that I owned.

Anyway, thanks for the replies guys.
