hi all been offered a swb g wagon late 80s diesel as i am thinking about doing some trips to France to try there road trials out first off are they any good for this sort of thing and is the diesel any good and what mpg could i be looking at and have they got any weak spots to look out for ?also max tire size before gearing is affected thanks

If it's the non turbo 300 diesel. It'll do about 18mpg and you'll get to about 65 before you run out of steam.
A turbo revolutionises (sorry about the spelling there ) the engine.
As soon as you change the tyre size from stock the gearing will be effected. Before it becomes undrivable, depends on how fast you want to go and how quick you want to get there.
