was i not just stating the obvious? the law is the law at the end of the day.
A series one is a rere lovely thing, its not nice to see them get destroyed for the sake of road tax.

if this is your idea of destroyed then fair enough but why say so. If you cant be civil then dont type a lot of hard work has gone into this vehicle and its a lovely example. Im sure he spent many a hour building it to avade tax Rolling Eyes . Very economical way to save money must consider it in the future NOT

Cracking version of a S1 , very nice.

Why not run it on whatever plates it was, Disco, rangey, 90 etc ,would that not keep everyone happy and the vehicle legal ?

i`d rather see it like that than rotting in a field somewhere, or stuck in a museum for the rivet counters.

its a landrover they were built to use ffs.

welcome to difflock mate.

firstly can i say the series one was a complete wreck when i brought it,the chassis was non existent the bulkhead was not much better and the drive train was scrap.i didnt build it to get around the tax issue,i just wanted a useable classic.if you'd rather it sat in a field rotting then thats up to you.i just dont have a large enough wallet to do a full original rebuild.it was featured in the middle pages of landrover magazine last year and i think their comments sum it up quote"how can something wrong, look so right".

Fair play mate for doing something a little different at the end of the day you dont build a truck for other people you build it how you want and for what you want.
Obviously you will upset the purests out there as its a series which isnt mint but thats up to them, unfortunatly these days you put your head above the pulpit for doing something different and your get shot down Boo hoo! .
Ill admit im not that keen on the mach 5's on it as they feel abit fresh but at same time they do sort of work cause its not a pure origanal and so they give it a modern twist and bring it up to date, buts that just my oppinion im not going to pick holes in it and id much rather see a truck being put to use rather than sitting around rotting away going to waste. Applause

im not getting involved in a debate over this..

FACT: Coiler series ones were never made

FACT: Any rebuild has to use a chassis of origional specification

FACT: If your are cought with a different spek chassis running on the wrong plates the VOSA WILL take it off you and DESTROY it. To do it legaly get it put though an sva test and get a Qplate.

Edit: for the Vosa to accept you have done a rebuild and not made a RINGER you have to keep all your recipts for the chassis to say it was bought off an official dealer, your not allowed to use a second hand chassis! and you have to take photo's of different stages of the build.

I know this is pick on Balaboater week. i dont use the spell checker simply because i cant be bothered, and i find when im right about something the people who disagree with me always give a dig about my spelling, to make a point or something.

and if grumpy wants to be driving about in a ringer then good luck to him.

this motor aint no ringer!!my wife owned and loved the vehicle that this is built on,up until she had a superficial accident with a van and the insurance wrote it off.all numbers i.e engine, gearbox, axles and chassis all match the wrote off vehicles v5.And i do have lots off photos on my computer from when this was built.

Saitan_jnr you seem to be missing the point though. right wrong or in different this car is on here for people to see and comment on, why go out of your way to point the things out that you have.

Oh and what is saitan?

Also i see you have written 1987 td on your posts yet you have a 300 tdi is this cos you are hiding things too?

saitan is a part of my e-mail address, satan was already taken.

Im not missing the point at all.its a nice truck, I just dont see how it can legaly be a springer,if it was previously a rangey the truck would be 100inch, or the chassis would have to be modded and Sva tested, however its not on a rangey's plates anyway, its on the origional 88 inch plates.

and... i have a 1987 90 which has a 300tdi implant from a discovery which i bought from a legaly scrapped truck. my v5 has been changed to include the new engine number. im not driving around on the discovery plates because its not a discovery.

the end.

But as i said in my last post your commenting on something that has nothing to do with the vehicles performance or appearance. Which is what this site is all about. The enthusiast. Critisism can be constructive but its not even that is the angle your coming in at, you have simply come on the garage section and stuck your nose in. If you like the motor when you click on a post the say that. If you think you can offer some advice on bettering the vehicle then do so. I just dont get the mentality of people that waste there time being like this.

Anyway this is gettying silly.

Danny

saitan, let this go mate.

IF it is not on the right plates/chassis/V5, it is nothing to do with you. IF gaz knows this then hes the one taking the risk.

personally i stand by what i said.

I fail to see the relevance of the number plates at all in this. There are many businesses making a small fortune selling different "private" plates as SPAM extensions to people in all walks of life. As far as i am aware, the only rules about changing plates are that they cannot be newer than the vehicle they are going on.

On a second glance, those plates would be 1963 anyway i think, which is post S1 production.....

NICE TRUCK, by the way...... ignore the nay sayers, if it works for you, go for it.
