Popped over from the Suzuki side, my mate has just bought a Tin Top fourtrak but both the sills are rotton. My question is can you chop them out and replace with box section like you can on an SJ?
Like this:

And if so what size box?

Thanks

We used Mk 4/5 Cortina outer cills to repair mine, they fit a treat!

Can't see any reason not to use box section.

Well Ive been to look at it and it isnt straight on the outside like an SJ the sill slopes out, and it all kinda flows with the archs etc, so I think its a case of patching it up!

It sounds like an independant model then. It is possible to use box section on a leafer but i don't think you could get it to work very well on an indy.

i'm wondering the same thing, i was thinking of using rectangular section to box the sills and double up as small side steps.

did it work for anyone in the end? thanks.

Hi Folks Wink

I have two quite bad holes in my sills which are caused by rust. I was thinking of puting a plate over both the holes but would it be better to replace the sill with a box section?

Any answers would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

the box route is the direction im taking. mines rotten as a pear in the sills and rear arches.

once done itll be solid enough to double as rock sliders.

dave.

breathers are already high(front axle one just under the bonnet)
afaik the breathers are there so if you go through water the diff cools and it would otherwise suck water in. i should imagine by the time the water is at bonnet level it would have done all the cooling its likely to do.

tyres..try camskill. they seem the cheapest

these are on my wish list Rolling Eyes
you will have to find someone local to fit them though.
