OK as everyone who has used an lj70 offroad will realize the suspension articulation is very poor tho they do seem to go most places.

Now Ive came to the point i need to do something about mine as having the extra weight of a winch and bumpers front and rear is taking its toll.

I was always just going to get two sets of 80 series front springs for mine and put them all round but it seems that they are too stiff and give you height but no movement ???

My shocks are taken care off and are longer.

The other option was a 3 link suspension set up home fabricated but there weathers a bit cold to start to that just now ( have to work outside to to a small garage)

Any other options ???

If i had the finances i wouldn't bother with articulation and go for a bit more height and front and rear lockers but now I'm just dreaming !! for time being anyway.

if you have an lj70 you will already have a rear lsd??..get another and fit it to the front.....(will need to put the track rod at the front of the axle)...
i made 4 inch spring spacers for mine....fitted 35s and welded the front diff...it was quite useful like that. Laughing

Yes already got lsd in rear but it isnt that great really . well i suppose it works but it isnt a difflock. i would consider one in the front for sure but could you elaborate on the track rod thing you mentioned ??

And your 4 inch spring spacers ?? were the metal or rubber ? any pics ? and did you extend your brake lines to the axles front and rear ?

thanks

mine was for offroad only so i knocked up spacers from some bits of pipe and fittings i had lying about.i dropped the shock mounts, extended the bumpstops and kept the std shocks.and i think i moved the mounts for the flexis.this was very much a budget lift and with the combination of the lsd rear and welded front diff and 35/37 inch fedimas it was pretty good, although the articulation left a lot to be desired the lockers kept it going.it did get stuck and when it did it was very very stuck. Laughing
the front diff in the lj70 is a high pinion diff which allows the track rod to run behind the axle under the diff.the lsd rear is a centre pinion diff(and the gears are not interchangable)so to fit the rear diff in front you need to move the track rod in front of the axle.....you will need to remove the lower king pins and refit them so they face forwards instead of rearwards and then refit the track rod in front.

maybe I'm going off track here but what is the reason for extending the bump stops ?? surely this would limit Axel movement ?? or am i missing something Confused

your spring spacers look very agricultural but that's exactly what i need just now as my front end has sagged something terrible and running 33" Tyre's means loads of rubbing going round corners.

so where could i find a second hand or used LSD unit out an lj70 ??

i guess if i could get one then it could only help with traction if nothing else.

You can rebuild the lsd into the front diff so you can still run the high pinion.

i extended the bumpstops for 3 reasons......
1 was so the springs didnt become coil bound....
2 was so i dindnt damage my std shocks(i moved the mounts down so if there was too much up travel it would close up the shocks and damage them).
3 was to stop the tyres rubbing.....i had to fit wheel spacers to stop the tyres fouling the inner wheel arches.
