I run my Toyota KZJ70 LandCruiser on Bio whenever I can get it but quite often have to put Dino in it as there dont seem to be any bio producers in SW London or Surrey.
The problem is that every time I put Bio in it after running Dino for a while it eventually blocks the fuel filter (usually after about 1000miles). Would it be possible to add a second pre-filter to the system to stop the OEM filter getting clogged so quick?
Obviously the pre-filters would have to be cheap and easy to replace anyone know of anything? I think someone was selling in line filters with removable cores a while ago (Nat?).

theres summat wrong with the bio
the two fuels are perfectly miscible,
i suspect the bio has either soap, free glycerine or an emulsion of water and diglycerides , this will clog a filter
a reaction between derv and bio wont....

agree with the above - sounds like bad bio.
You will get problems first time you run bio as it acts as a detergent and washes the rubbish through - but then system is cleaned

Unless everywhere I go I get bad Bio I doubt its that. I get boi from several different places on my travels and it seems to do it where ever I get the Bio from?

total mystery then ?
because the chemistry is safe.
unless you have a wet or very dirty fuel tank i cant explain the cause?
possibly some form of biological prob ? algae perhaps.
or cheap filters breaking down with unmethylated bio???
what is getting caught in the filters ?

I suppose it could potentially be something else then but the problem seems to go away when I change the fuel filter.
Pretty much what happens is I fill up with bio on my travels then when I come back home I have to run on Dino until I go near somewhere I can get Bio. Generally after about 500miles on Bio I get slightly rough idling until warmed up then after 1000miles I have to change the fuel filter as it is so clogged I loose power (I drove 300miles at 50mph with foot to floor once because of this!).
When I change the filter it fixes these problems and the car runs fine until I repeat the cycle. Its usually golden brown cloudy fuel with bits in it that smells similar to paint stripper that comes out of the filter when I change it. The filters are cheap Boshi filters from Milner and Im loathed to use anything more expensive if I have to keep changing it:

Well yes but Im useless and cant find a supplier of Baldwin filters or which one I need for my vehicle.
It would be so much easier if all the manufactures used the OEM part numbers. Toyota show the OEM filter as 23303-64010.
