Assuming that it is the same ZF 4 speed auto box that is fitted to the Disco - it is filled via the dipstick tube. The oil is quite thin so it is easy to do. But please tell us what gearbox you have.

For the Disco ZF box: When you say "trying to fill this up" - is it low on oil or are you doing an oil change? It only takes about a quater of a litre from the low to full mark on the dipstick - do not overfill.

If you want to change the oil there is a drain plug underneath but you will only get about half of the 9 1/2 - 10 litres out as half the oil will remain in the torque converter. If you drain the oil, assuming that you have the correct level in the box, measure the oil you get out and refill with the same quantity - do not overfill. If you don't know how long the oil has been in there or if it is not clear (it should be a reddish colour and clear with no trace of black or dirty looking oil) or smells burned then change it and the filter screen (a fiddly job) but you will have to change it again after a 100 or so miles because of the oil retained in the torque converter. Difflock Evo 1 oil is an excellent fully synthetic oil although a bit expensive. I think Difflock does a non synthetic oil that is cheaper (buying from Difflock keeps this forum running).
