i think i might have striped the splines on the front propshaft of my 416 does any one know if its possible to change with out completly removing the front axle and does any one have one for sale.

the only way is to unbolt the torque tube at the gearbox end and pull the complete axel and tube forward then you can undue the 8 bolts that hold the uj onto the gearbox flange
are you sure its that that is stripped and not a siezed 2-4 wd linkage because its quite a big job on a 416 due to the wieght of the thing

cheeres for the advice ,although its not possible to be sure what has broken i have narrowed it down a bit by drilling a small hole in the torque tube, engaging 4 wheel drive ,and driving in to a big heap of dirt, and wilst the mog was quietly spinning its back wheels had someone look at the small hole,and the front prop was definetly going round. same story going backwards as well, but i might drain the diff oil next and do a post mortem on the contents ...

Humm can't remember the details, but there was a chap offering a diff on ebay recently, failed to sell at a no reserve £10 starting bid. Was based in north wales. Don't know if it was anyone on here???
