Hi guys this is my first post...been looking for a Unimog forum...

I have U900. Recently bought but not that happy with it. trusted the guy who sold it saying the undercab was the best in the country, the mudgurad was held on with tie raps...and the tank had a massive split in it and was leaking like a sieve...now it wont start...

I am assuming it is because the fuel lines need bleeding but does anyone know how to do it on the mogs..cant find or see a logical bleed point other than the 6 screws just below the outlet pipes to the engine itself...but cant imagine they are it...

I need a manual...

I can't be specific on the u900 but if the tank is split there's a good chance that the lines aren't great and it's dragging air into the fuel system. On the pump there should be a bleed screw - it will be one screw on it's own on the top plate (high point), loosen this and operate the manual primer pump (assuming it has one?) and pump until you get solid squirts of diesel coming out every pump.

Once the pump is primed, loosen the fuel rail to each injector and spin the engine till fuel squibbs out of the pipes (if the engine apears to want to start when your doing this switch it off), tighten the unions and see if it starts.

If you undo a couple of the unions on the pipe from the tank and fit a length of clear tube and tighten back up, you'll be able to see if air is being sucked from the tank.

its the diesel 90 hp 6 cylinder unit...I have the details now, looks like a right old palarvour but will have to go thorugh with it anhd see if i can get her up and running...she was sunning fine prior to the tank coming off so i dont suspect anything has gone off in the time between the tank being fixed and the tank being re-installed although i cant count anything out so will double check things...again...

hi mate 2 problems i had with my fuel system , firstly there is a small sediment trap next to the tank and also long periods of standing can result in the fuel running back. the most inportant part to bleed seems to be the two bleed screws on top of the fuel filters
