It struck me today that a thanks system might work quite well on this forum, seeing how it's mostly a technical forum (questions and answers) rather than a discussion forum. We are generally a nice lot and do give thanks where it's due, so a button to show thanks to a post, and a tally below the Avatar, would be used quite a bit I should think. I thought calling them 'Beer Tokens' would go down well.
Discuss!
Ta!
Pete.

yea its like the helpfulness system on the rigs of rods forum
you have to recommend people and show where theyve helped or hindered you and their score goes up or down accordingly

We used to have a star rating on the old difflock forum.
More stars you voted the better/more helpful the post was in your opnion.
I for one have missed this a lot and have often thpought that post is worth a merit , so Simon how about it or would it be a pain in the butt ?

I like the old star system.
Cold only post positive stars, if you have an issue with a post you always have the ablity to report to admin.
That way is a win win situation Terrence.

My only concern about a 5 star rating is that 1 star can be interpreted both good and bad; a 1 star Michelin Restaurant will be good, but a 1 star film will be terrible. How would new comers, for example, know that 1 star is good?
A simple thanks (have a beer token) button that's adds 1 to running total wouldn't cause that issue, I don't think.
My tuppence...
