we have spent loads of time and money building this thing and now its down to the rubber stuff

ive changed my mind so many times im bloody lost its gona be a zook with SPOA, 1.6 Vitara lump with rocklobster TB
we are gona be using this for all sorts including winch challenges so we need a good alrounder i want to use 31's as i have a nice set of 15 inch super wide offset rims here
my choices so far have been

Machos i love them but very soft and dont last long
Fedima Macho Copies with side lugs (just been offered these for £345 deliverd for 5)
Grizzly's
Fedima Scirrocs
Fedima Trial Ade
Recips

there are pros and cons with all but at the momment im going towards the Trial Ades can some one help me out please

Nobby

Firstly i don't reckon macho's are any softer than other retread tyres. Mine lasted a lot better than my mates grizzlies. The fedima cersion of macho's are exactly the same (as are the sahara and bronco versions). They are all a copy of yokohama geolander MT (which are believe are out of production).

However this is irellevant as machos are not in the same league as sirocos, trial ades or recips. They are essentially just an MT pattern, a very good one with excellent road manners and lots of grip but thats it.

As for the others you can kind of take your pick.

I'm unimpressed with trial ades (or anaconda's which are the same) especially in smaller sizes. I did plan to get some but was disappointed by the lug size when i saw them and their rubbish on side slopes.

Grizzlies are always good, very reliable and siroco's are superb have mates with both and they do really well. Side lugs are key and they really have them.

But my choice would be recip maxi 3ds. Absolutely awesome tyre, grips well, clears well. Not sure about rocks (haven't tested them much on rock, but so far looks good). They growl abit on the road but what doesn't!
I've cleared stuff that lockers and 35" simexs struggle on.

the problem with any remould is that they are often very different through the batch numbers, they can vary in size and composition aswell as sidewall strength.
i would say sirrocos or trial aids, i havent seen the recips yet so i cant comment.

the 35" pitbulls on my range rover are 14.5" wide.
i think the smaller sizes are about 12.5.
ideally a 10" rim.
mine are on a 10" rim with a beadlock which increrases the rim width to just over 11"

Would really like to see (or try) a set of pitbulls. Everybody seems to rave about them but i can't see why they should be anygood. The only thing they have going for them is large side lugs (present on any large extreme tyre). Apart from that they don't look particular interesting.

But i reserve judgment as they seem popular.

i would say get the scirroco.... most of the challenge vehicle use them.. or the pitbulls. but i think the pitbulls will be too wide for a zook!

i have seen the anacondas/trial ade, and they dont seem very good on sidewalls, although speak to allan chambers on how his perform on his zooki.

scooby... why do you insist on slagging off machos? im not taking it personal (i have machos) but its a lot of what i seem to read from your comments... all the tyres seem to outperform eachother in one area or another. there is no ALL ROUND tyre (well literally there is Laughing) but because you have had a bad experience with them you seem to think that nobody esle should buy them, or try them for themselves!

as my mother would say if you havent got anything worth saying then dont say it at all.

i love Machos i think they along with DB's are the best tyre for a zook but a si said i find them a little soft

i had a set of Machos on the little red 1 that we had all all it had was a 2inch lift and trust me it done well i only got stuck once and that was because i got bored and tried something really silly

im running anacondas under my zook, 265/75/16's, and i think they are fantastic! air them down and through mud they are unstoppable... last time i was out in them i walked everything!

not tried side slopes... i know theyd be pants on them, but you get to know what to avoid.. no the side lugs arent as pronounced as the siroccos, but theyre still fantastic, and theyre not too noisey on the road either...

It is highly questionable as to the legality of interco tyres in this country (they make super swampers). Especially when you consider that bronco stopped producing dirt devils (remould but same pattern) for supposed legal reasons.

Bloody good tyre though

No, I've been on the look out for a set of 36" tyres for the Jeep and came across them on one of my daily eBay scavenges!
