We have just come back from my first Scotia, what a good event! Do-able sections, great comradidy and a great laugh.

There was sections for all vehicles, some were so driveable you could be in and out in 2 mins, the next one would take some serious thinking and a lot of prep before you started to ensure you could get back out (one winch only allowed in this event!). And some (The Tay Trophy Run) was just f*kin insane and we didn't go near it! I only saw two cars go in and only one (trayback, RR with Lockers) finished that section after replacing his winch half way through!

Great bit of land as well, most the time you had also to check the ground anchor would hold in some of the bogs, certain areas looked like a ploughing competition had just finished! Very Happy

Thanks to the event orginisers and chuck wagon ladies for keeping everyone fed with Bacon Rolls and hot tea - even when it was freezing and snowing on Sunday.

Hopefully some pics will appear soon, and well done to Allan Fraser is his old diesel 90, for winning the event for the BORDC!!! Shocked

I cant make no 3, but see you at no4

not long home
excellent weekend never remotely thought we would win after looking at the line up of entry vehicles but a steady safe pace throughout the day kept us in one piece and the only damage we sustained was a bent rear steering bar

I knew you would win it, after all you did have Lynns top secret winch which we had cunningly disguised as a Britpart 9500 and obviously as you are not in jail they never took urine samples from you after you drank the special water that I suplied you with Very Happy Very Happy . Seriously though well done to you both, and its great to see just what can be achieved in a slightly modified turbo d 90 that didnt cost £0000 and you built by yourself ,WELL DONE again Cool

Correct. It is a novices' event therefore only novices can win! This was complicated by the fact that out of 13 entrants only 4 or 5 were true novices and most of them were well down the pack but, and it is a HUGE but .....

Allan and Martin were worthy winners and did so purely on the number of punches achieved (65 out of 105) in a basically unmodified £300 Landrover POS, 2nd place was won by SCS#1 3rd place team with the commiseration prize being given to a pair of no hopers with a junk heap cobbled together from various old zooks and porcine entrails.

It was a great weekend which will hopefully be repeated in a few weeks. Just remember we need at least 15 entries to run it and the deadline is Friday 20th March.

Got to admit it was a great weekend with lots of mud bog and snow
The fact we came first was a bonus as I learned a lot from those around marshalling and other competitors.

Now looking forward to winch bitch again.

Yeah, but I bet you wish your vehicle was half that good. Twisted Evil We did manage a few red punches at full throttle (circa 8500 rpm) where others had to resort to winching.

Also I find that disrespectful to porcine entrails Laughing

Hmmm, if I'd been there to supervise the BORDC entries I'm sure you both would have done a lot worse.....

Well done gents - I'm glad your 'tea making' formative years were not all in vain! (private joke folks).

Stew,

We've had a few comments back from competitors saying how much they enjoyed the event and how they're looking forward to the next one.

We want LOTS of novices to enter, there must be well over 100 capable vehicles in central Scotland alone who are easily capable of entering but for some reason we're only getting a handful. If we do not get 15 or more entries on or before the 20th then it will be cancelled.

SWCC has created this series to go back to our original concept for Argyle and Tay competitions and to cater for the very large number of people who were asking for it. We've been shown just how good it can be with the right people entering but it is, after all, a series for novices and without them there is little point. It is the same amount of work for a 1 day event as for 2 days and for 10 entrants as 50.

Spread the word folks, we need more novices.

As has been said a very enjoyable and well run event that fills a gap in the market! Any chance of a results spread sheet sometime soon?

I'll be at the next one but not sure if a can do the last one, D11 is the weekend before and it might be a bit costly with 2 events one weekend after the other!! I'll have to see how funds go over the next wee while!!

If its really really frosty, i'll have plenty money!!

Still trying to "save" to get on with my challenge motor!! Laughing Laughing
