Hi Mims,
have a look at the techy bit of my web site, I've not got round to finishing it, as I've run out of web space, but I'm hoping to solve that soon. But have a look you might find some useful info there.

http://uk.geocities.com/mccnutty@btinternet.com/

The easiest way to find out what you have got on your jeep is to phone a dealer with your VIN No. and they will give you a build spec, very handy to keep a record of this for future upgrades etc.

A 2" Old man emu lift will set you back about £600 for the springs and shocks, a 1" body lift is about £80. Trouble with a 2" lift and no drive shaft conversion, you'll most likely need to drop the transfer plate, which kind of negates the lift. You'll also most likely need to change the anti roll bar links for longer ones, or disconnects. I'm running 31" BFG's at the moment but as soon as I can afford it I'm putting some 33's on. Mark at MDG reckons that they will fit OK, some of the more aggressive Tyre's might not though.

Hope this helps.

From memory:-

Transfer case (NP/NV 231)

Sport / Sahara - 2.72:1 Low Ratio
Rubicon (US) 4:1 Low ratio

Diffs

Sport 3.07:1
Sahara 3.73:1
Rubicon (US) 4.11:1

Worth checking the plate on the diff if you have a Sahara, just to be sure.

Thanks mort.

We have a sport so the ratios in low box are not exactly low then compared to the other models.

Look like we might be getting some crown wheels then.I supose the High ratio in the T box is 1:1 then ?

AFAIK, yes - 2WD and Part-Time (H) 4x4 are both the same.

Something for you to think about Wavey is the other lower gearing option. If you are happy with how it drives in hi-range (ie; on-road), but want some extra help in lo-range you could look into the 4:1 ratio conversion kits for the T-case.

Low range isnt the major worry tbh,we woudl like to be able to run it with 33" tyres on the high way with out problems and was hoping to get away with it with our doing anything to the gearing,

Later on when the mods start in ernist and the real rubber goes on is when we wanted/planned to do anything with the gears. Seams like a waste of time and money to do it twice. And as we still have a serious off road/comp car then the Wrangler need not get bashed about playing hard.
