OK how's your's fixed?

On the bay at the moment there a winch bumper that that goes through the Bull bar mount.

How can thoes holes be strong enough??? My bull bars used to move about all the time....

What is the best way to fix a winch bumper to the zook. Even if it is weld solid. As It will only come off for scraping the vehicle.

Have most of the bumper made just need to decide on fixing points and fab that up.

the best way is welding (depending on weld quality)

the bolts might be strong enough i know i've towed mine using the bull bar mounts

My Gold Digger 4x4 bumper mount on them holes but also has legs that follows the chassis down and then bolt thru the chassis again pass the steering box.

I think weld and bolt would be a good idea. Best of both worlds! Wink

iv just put one on mine, the bull bar mounts, but also where you cut the front chassis away from original bumper two lengths of pipe that fit down the chassis inside tight and bolt through the winch bumper, its strong to say the least!

I did one on mine, and one on G's. 9000 pounder, and 12000 pouner repectively. Both were fitted via a universal mounting plate, welded directly to the chassis rails, with a slight raise at the front end to get a straight pull. Was it up to the job?? Let's just say G's wicnh was on the borderline of the clutch coming in on the winch whilst pulling a very stuck pajero out of a right mess, and the plate/winch didn't move an inch!! Don't think 4 bolts so close to the front of the chassis would've held for that.

i hope your going to paint it before it goes on and the engine crain is here to lift it into place while you bolt it up(do you think 16 bolts be enough) Rolling Eyes

i bolted my winch bumper on

4 bolts to each chassis leg

3 bolts through the cross member which has a bit of 1 1/4 blue band hammered in through it.

if that was aimed at me tris it took some getting on and i get the feeling its gonna be strong enough, should have seen the size of the hammer we had to use to get them legs through the chassis! think i need some lifted springs for the front now just to take the weight haha

OK had another look atht the zook front end and what I will do is.

Cut that poxy cross member out and curve the ends of the chassis legs then use the Back Bar (2 1/4" heavy tube) of the new winch bumper as the chassis cross member. With a 5mm x 100mm x ?? plates running down each side of the the chassis legs and welded on.

Then remake the front body mount and tie the front suspension point back into the new stronger front chassis.
