This is not only hideous but also illegal in it's tax claims.

Obviously too embarassed to drive with the original body on the chassis, thought he would be clever and failed miserably.

that is truly Fugly!

Surely the lack of bumper in it's self is illegal (sharp looking protrusions at the front!)

If he's honest about those 'bad points' what's he not telling about the rest!!

that is sooooo stupid even posted the reg in the pics our local police station has an officer trained to inspect such vechicles
when caught its bye bye car we have a mobile crushing unit in the area
my local landie specialist warns customers if he thinks vehicles are pushing the limits for claiming tax exempt

though I do like the very non pc front bumper and they knock bull bars for being unkind to pedestrians certainly mot failure any MOTer worth his/her salt (note p/c) would refuse to mot this as chassis no does not match age of vehicle (daily rant over)

I'm surprised to hear that the Police are in the least bit interested. I can understand them being interested in stolen vehicles - but would have thought that they would have regarded things like this as revenue matters best dealt with by the DVLA.

Its not a safety matter as its got an MOT and the running gear is probably no worse than poorly maintained ancient Rover running gear anyway.

Done that yesterday and pointed out the legal requirements that he has not adhered to and he hasn't replied. I also reported it to ebay but as you see, it's still listed.

Wonder if his local VOSA office would like to know about it???

I've tried emailing the seller a question, asking specifically about the legality of the vehicle as it is on a chassis from a different vehicle?

All I got back was "Dear welshmac,

please ask all questions via the mobile number

- csbaylis"

Yes, it seems he answers all his questions that way. Makes you wonder if he knows what he has done wrong.

This realy annoys me, legal or not he is driving a 1.5 ton metal box around with dodgey brakes because he cant be bothered to fix them, he obviously has no consideration for anyone but himself, should have his licence pulled IMHO.

TBH the only crime as far as i can see is that the seller is runing it as a tax exempt vehicle.

Just becasue its a shogan chassis running a mix and match of land rover body parts surley dosnt make it dangerous dose it ?

If thats the case theres hell of a lot of posters on here that we shoudl throw the book at !

OK he should be brougt to book about false advertisig and possably VOSA and the DVLA would be interested but unless theres anything dangerous about its construction why shoudlit fail and MOT test ?

He did after all say he has just removed the front bmper ,was it fitted for M.O.T ? dose a bent front bumper constitute a dangerous vehicle ? how many difflockers have defenders or Series LR's with bend bumpers and all we do is larf at them?

He did also sugest that the buyer should trailer i away so who is he intending to kill ? it is after al teh driver who is responceable for the saftey of the vehicle he is driving not the seller.

And at the end of the day 6 mins before end of auction it was standing in at £310...i'd buy it for that, id make a profit on the SIIa roof alone.

Come on guys get a life.

The bad part about it, is the comment he makes about the brakes

Brakes are a bit spongy, think they need bleeding? so would recommend trailering away, ive been driving it like it for months so can be done, but better to be safe i suppose??

He obviously does not maintain the vehicle but is happy to drive it on the road in that condition, if he was keeping it I have no doubt that he would continue to drive it without replacing the bumper, fixing the brakes or fixing the seat in.

I think that the fact it finished so cheap reflects peoples reaction to it, if his was a genuine tax exempt vhicle with MOT, then it would have sold for at least £1000.

At the end of the day, it is a legal matter as he is defrauding the government by avoiding paying road tax plus he has (at his own admission) a badly maintained vehicle on the road.

the fact that he has admited he has been driving it in what may or may not be an unroadworthy condition is hearsay evidance and not admisable evidence in a court or law, it is for plodd to prove not a lynch mob, sorry but the only law he may have so far broken is a trading standards one....

the vendor clearly is not qualified to pass a professional verdict on its roadworthyness ,and has stated buyer should tailor it away...

if he who here has never driven a damaged car from an event, , never driven with mud filled brakes, or windows, lights and plates covered in mud, then he may cast the first stone with a clear conscionce.

PS...isnt part of the carcture of SII thar the seats are just resting on the battery box ?

I see where waveydave is coming from. And if it is safe, then the police won't be interested. And if it isn't safe, they will.
If it is dangerous then it could kill someone, so best say somthing now, incase its in the papers in a few months? Then we all pay with a reduction of motoring freedom, next round of legislation.

To argue the safety issue, its a mitsubishi shogun with a landy body, not a landy with a chassis change. Therefore needs an MOT apropriate for the mitsubishi shogun that it is. So the vehicle advertised has no MOT, no insurance, no road tax. And it certainly doesn't have windscreen demisters!

Sell it as an off road motor, no probs Very Happy

Sell it as a road vehicle, bad Sad

I go with what teamidris says It should be taxed and motd as a shogun there fore its on the road illegally and his claims of tax exempt are also false..

I'm sure most of us are aware of another highly publicized person who was running the wrong chassis on his landy. Also wouldnt the deatails on the V5 be wrong?? unless the number on the chassis has been changed?

wavey at the end of the day it was a bag of sh** that had dodgy brakes, if it had hit my wife/kids/dog because it had not been able to stop due to the brakes it would have not gone to court , it would have been a one man lynch mob, its a disgrace that ebay allowed the auction to go ahead and the ad was misleading..... imagine if who ever bought it was buying thier first car? how would they know any different?
i cant believe anyone would want to defend the plonker......
