Hello,
This one is from CMLDistribution. Cost just over £200 and is RTR (Ready to Run)...
Just need to buy 8 AA for the controller and a power pack. I got 2 Venom 1800mh. And they last me about 40min each (non-stop use)
What I like with the Axial, is that I this is vry high quality (not a toy) and you can modify it as much as you want.
We are opening a new section on the Mag to talk about RC.

James has one and it is a genuine RockCrawler with locked front diff and low ratio gearing.
It is excellent on batteries, we bought 2 x 3200mAH and they literally last hours each, plus we have a 40 minute fast charger.
Within a week he had worn out the front servo as it is plastic geared and takes a real pounding when rock crawling, stripping the gears out. So we put in a metal geared servo for £15.
It has a habit of blowing out the UJs on the propshaft, but judicious application of locktite thread locker to the flanges and lubricating the sliding joints in the propshafts seems to have stopped that.
Best toy he has had. He has had Nitro (too fast and uncontrollable in a confined space) and various cheap vehicles (no flex!)
see www.rccrawler.com for a good Internet resource - there is a special section on the Axial AX10 Scorpion RTR

I like the mag artical Xav, it looks like a nice bit of kit, but a wee bit over my budget.
I saw the ad for the Losi crawler and like this very much, I've had a £20 Nylint crawler off eBay but soon bored of its slightly poor abilities...
Gotta find sone Losi owners!

Hi All.
I bought a RTR about four months ago, and wow what a bit of kit!
The thing that I did notice was that out of the box the suspension links are very weak. I could get the rear offside to bend in so much that it would touch the prop!
I bought the upgrade links from cml and that improved things a lot.
Next up to be changed was the 27 turn motor. £15 later and an axial 55 turn motor was ordered (great value). This gave me so much more control.
Everybody on the forums seem to slate the stock ESC and I was fed up with the squeeling so a novack rooster was ordered. No more noise and an instant reverse unlike the stock one. Was it worth the £75? maybe but I would not rush out and buy one as my first upgrade.
Star cutting the foams was a good move and cost nowt.
But The single and best mod was to move the batt pack to fit on the front axle. The differance when climbing and going across side slopes is just unreal.
Next mod I think is going to be a better servo even though I am still on the stock one which is working ok but just lacks a little power.
Oh and put a proper off road body on it (a suzuki SJ of course. But I'm a bit biased as I run a full size challenge version)

Hi mate interesting points there.
I hadn't thought about star cutting the foam in the wheels but that sounds like an excellent mod !
I got a Modelsport UK Viper ECO 20 ESC with my kit. I was wondering why it doesn't instantly jump into reverse? Can you explain that a bit more for me please ? I don't mind that it sort of gradually comes in because that seems to give better control?
I also have a 55turn motor is the 'Novak 55' which seems to be unstoppable
I really don't like the shells that come with the kits which is why I replaced mine straight away, although I can see how running the ultra light shells are a distinct advantage.
Do you know of somewhere that you can get some decent 4x4 shells from ? I'd have loved to re-create my Jimny in RC format !

Good morning
The viper ESC is not one I've heard of before but then I've only been electric for a few months!!
With the standard ESC on the RTR when you wanted to go from foward to reverse, you either had to double click reverse or wait till the truck had stopped.
This was a real pain if when climbing it started to roll backwards as you could not do a quick reverse to pop the front back down.
The novak lets you go into full reverse instantly no matter how fast you are going foward. (great for rear end wheelies!!!)
Another advantage of the novak esc is that it features a "hill brake" I dunno if your viper has this but it's very handy. It is a bit like an automatic hand brake, as soon as you let go of the throttle the thing stops dead. It's very handy on steep hills as it stops any roll back or roll on.
I don't know of any Jimny body's but have a look on rccrawler as there's a good chance that someone will of asked the question.
Ade

did some work on the Axial over the WE...
I upgraded to the metal links but more importanly I fitted the Alu C hub, knuckles and steering UJs... Now the car is having a decent turning radius
I also ment that I had to trim a bit more my 110 pickup body shell.
I'll bring it to the Donnington show.
Rob should have an indoor crawling course at the show next month.
