Its poor on driver protection - but so are Landies really, especially the pinkies that the desert rats used...

They're on air suspension and are designed to be driven very fast over rough ground.

Sounds like fun! Very Happy

Might join the marines Laughing

these are not exclusive to the Marines

the Welsh Guards also use these

I was privvy to a training video on Christmas day, of the lads at the off road course somewhere in Ireland.

My comments at the start of the video were, " you got to take your time when driving off road, it's not like driving on tarmac, else you end up on your roof"

2 minutes into video..........

Jackal on it's roof

they have winches also, but I am told they tend to break ?

I think I am right in saying designed and tested by Supacat, Dunkeswell and built at DML, Devonport. Often seen being roaded up the M5 on the way to the sandpit

During a Scotrail driver's strike a few years ago 1 [dim] driver got on his soapbox saying "It's no' fair an' reasonable fer Drivers tae make do wi' a measly £24 thoosand when signallers an' controllers are on £28 thoosand basic"

Next day Scotrail received over 400 applications from Lawyers, Doctors and Accountants. The strike crumbled!

seen the jackal in the flesh, they are awesome bit difficult to reverse though (seen one roll over a car Embarassed ) as you can imagine they are a bit thirsty but give valuable protection to mine strikes. and i agree we in the forces dont get paid enough but then neither do a vast majority of very important people (no i aint talking about polititians and the like Laughing )
