been offered a 95 m reg 300tdi disco cheap but the transfer box is nakerd, but i have a good one in my 91 j reg 200tdi disco which is very close to the scrap man, but i'm not to sure if they are the same or interchangeable. Also whats the difference between the 200 and 300, apart from dash, axles and frontend?

it should be the same but failing that you can put the gear box and transfer box in complete it will fit.

Rear bumper, R380 gearbox.

The transfer box should fit though with no problem.

Thought the axles were the same.

Sorry, i'll rephrase that. Halfshafts/diff not axle-I thought they were 24 spline not 10. Whats the difference in the 2 engines? More power, better reliability?

The 300 is quieter and the rest is about the same though the 300 does suffer with P gasket failure. More of a hassle than a real problem.

Both good engines. The 200 varied in the turbo position on Discoveries and Defenders whereas the turbo position on the 300 is the same in both ranges.
