I need some joints to use for the front upright steering swivels (custom fab'd) onmy new truck.

Land Rover A frame joints can give up to 22 degrees but just wondered what else was out there and what it will swivel to.

I don't think they need to be as chunky as LR ones - which should open up the field a bit.

Thanks in advance,

Si

Try most the american forums, I can suggest Pirate4x4, have a look through the suzuki section, lots of suspension mods in there that will be suitable for all types of motors.

Steering joint, as in Rose joint?
That's the kind of thing used on linked suspension as in pics above.

Nigel.

Rally Design,

Use R/H thread one end and a L/H thread other end and you can easily adjust lengths of linkages.

Also by using the side spaces you maximise the angular movement. Don't forget a rod end each end of the linkage means twice the quoted angular movement

Thanks for all the help.

I have some of the rose joints pictured. Although they give reasonable movement, they are not in the least bit sealed. You can get sealing rubbers, but they restrict the movement to +/- 12 degrees!

What I was really hoping for was a suggestion of what ball joints, track rod end or A frame style give the most movement?

I could use my X-joints, but they are a bit too big for wishbone ends! At this rate, I may well end up making my own - but would prefer something mass produced so, when one breaks it does not involve a day standing by a lathe to get a new one!

Si

After a bit of box-opening at my local motor factor - the answer is:
GM/Vauxhall BA0804 / QR3167S Drag link ends which win with a big 34 degrees (68 total).

Just in case anyone else needs to know!
