I simply have a heavy duty motorbike padlock and chain around the seat base to the steering wheel.
it would be easier to cut the steering wheel than the chain or lock.
it is visual
and if I wanted I could tilt the seat and lock the seat back into the wheel as well.
simple and easy to fit.

Forget it. There is nothing you can do except leave nothing in your vehicle worth nicking and leave the doors unlocked so they can climb in and check without smashing a window.

The best security is simple, easy and convenient to use so you keep using it. Nothing will stop the Pro so don't bother trying. I have a Meck Lock so that it is harder to nick my 90, trailer and Veteran car/caravan in a one'er and that's it. I find keeping it dirty and filled with rubbish makes it less attractive. |
I don't lock my car, never leave anything in there worth nicking so hopefully the scumbags have a nosey then go on their way. I have an imobiliser, no alarm because nobody bats an eyelid when they go off anyway. If they want to nick the car....... hey, it's just a car and it's insured. Quite fancy a change anyway

They don't stop a theif driving your Land Rover away... you don't need a clutch, and can use the hand brake to slow you down.

Well that would be 1-0 to me then cos My handbrake doesnt work, It wont work fullstop
Ironically, Like a Daft T*** I locked my keys in my truck today whilst not realising in a rush!.. Method of getting in?...
4 Lads to help push the Defender forward whilst it was in reverse, Elbow through rear quaterlight (Glass comes ou tin one, Doesnt smash), Put arm through the said windows hole, Undo the door, Climb in, Get keys of drivers seat and done! .. No one even battered an eyelid! Just goes to show how easy and quick it can be done!

On a Defender it is very simple to fit a remote control battery master switch to the battery because there is so much space in the battery box. It allows a very light supply round it to keep radio memory live etc. A thief would take a few minutes to get round it and it is on a remote control fob that hangs from your key ring so even the missus uses it. Not fool proof but a good start. they are really for the marine market when your battery is in an inaccessible position. As everyone points out you can only make it more difficult.
