Just googled something on 'tinterweb and up popped a link to the 'old' forum.
I just clicked on it without realising it was 'pointing' to the old forum.

Then realised it was indeed the old forum.
Looked at what was going on and realised that all us old f*rts who have links to some really good info that we thought was lost forever, possibly isn't ?

Here is a link to an old thread I posted about fitting a Nikki carb (be patient, takes a while for all the old links to load).
http://archive.difflock.com/discus/messages/8/46329.html

The missing links in my current SU thread...
Vac Pt 1
http://archive.difflock.com/discus/messages/8/66358.html?1108236668 (anyone else remember Clayton...)

Vac Pt 2
http://archive.difflock.com/discus/messages/8/68036.html

Only trouble is, it takes ages to load the pages, so be patient.
Images don't appear in the thread as they are 'pointing' to the old forum & thread which is now incorrect.
To view an image, right click on the missing image (red cross bit) and look at the URL.
Copy and paste it into a new browser tab or window and ammend the forum bit of the URL to archive and bingo.

So, here's how it works:
Example, change:

http://forum.difflock.com/discus/messages/8/xxxxx.html
to
http://archive.difflock.com/discus/messages/8/xxxxx.html

All the original URL's need changing from
http://forum.difflock.com/discus/messages/8/46334.jpg (doesn't work)
to
http://archive.difflock.com/discus/messages/8/46334.jpg (does work)

Nigel.

You're right Nigel Laughing

It's quite strange looking at the old posts and realising how many aren't posting anymore.

Cheers

Yep, I miss the friendliness of the old forum days too.
Not that I'm complaining, but it seems a bit more, erm, 'bitchy' nowadays.

Mathew,
I'm good thanks (if not a bit older and forgetful !).
Sorry to have to ask, but which Mathew are you ?!
Mat from Gloucestershire??

Nigel.

I took a glance at the old forum last night , found some old posts interesting !! , hoped I could see the pics of early days at my off road site but , not skillfull enough to retrieve them ,

I commented at the time " if it aint broke ,dont mendit , " . now in hindsight the new forum is more rounded with a wider viewpoint , so I think progress was made ,

Still enjoying making friends new n old on here , Cheers , J P .

John,

If you find an old forum post where you want to 'see all' - copy the main page link here and I'll dig out the pics and re-post for you.

dah-di-dah Wink

Nigel.

THANKS nigel , I think it starts " fab day at JPs by Andy b . Its a pain not being computer literate , I usualy ask ny son but he moved to Glossop now , so I dont see much of him ,

Its nice to look back on how the sections have changed , I also wish I had saved more of them too ,

Damian has been a great help too as he has also taken a few pics , Also the trucks used then are a lot more modded or in other hands now ,
It will make my day if they get posted again ,

Thanks in advance John .

John,

I tried using the search in the old forum and I couldn't track it down - can you remember the date, that would help.

Either that, or if you or anyone else still has the original link, perhaps they could post it here...

Nigel.

Well I tried to get the pics up again but unable to do so .

The link on the old forum is in Suzuki section , fab day at JPs , by Andy b , dated 8 oct 2006 , The site has moved on a pace from then but iwould be pleased if I could get the pics back , just to see if the improvments were worth while ,

If anyone with more computer knowldge than myself could oblige , it would be most apreciated , Thanks in advance J P .

Hey people,

I miss the old forum too, I used to spend far to long on here!

It's been 2 months since I last had a look to see whats going on.

I found the old forum much easier to use, I can't comment on the new personalities as I've been away a long time but I felt part of a something positive when I was a regular, the forum turned a chance ownership of a vehicle I didn't even want into a lifetime love of them

This said I intend to start the restoration/reincarnation/evolution of the vauxuki 420i in the near future as soon as I find a suitable workshop to rent so I may be joining you old and new to find out how its really changed
