BMW M51 Engine.
Will run ok in the summer on 100% oil but will need a blend of oil and diesel in winter.
You will almost certainly kill the electric lift pump in the fuel tank.
This is easily removed, replaced with a bit of pipe and a facet electric fuel pump fitted in the fuel line to replace the in tank pump.

Twin tank conversion and mechanical lift pump and it will be fine...
as Nat says the achilles heel is the lift pump. with a twin tank you can keep diesel in the main tank and the Aux tank has the veg with its own lift pump...
