Well, I'm not giving up that easily Lets start again
Anyone got any questions about my truck, have alook at my website first www.little-toe.com
If you ain't got anything nice to say, then go to another forum
So where were we, oh, yes...
Lacking any kind of facilities, trying to do a V8 transplant into a zuke on a narrow side street is not a realistic proposition. Just imagine getting out your grinder and welder on the street when the local primary school gate is 5 yards away!
Anyway, having met up with Tony (aka Suzota), he has very kindly offered his workshop and expertise in shoe horning my Rover V8 3.5L engine, auto box and Hi-Lux t-case into Little Toe.
And before you ask, this is being done on joint basis, with me travelling down to his workshop at the weekends to lend a hand. I'm no lame duck with a welder or an angle grinder, plus Tony is doing this as a commercial venture, as it's his workshop and he has to make living out it.
So, last weekend, Tony came up to collect Little Toe on his trailer and take it down to his workshop. During this week he'll rip out the old 1324cc zuki engine, ready for me to come down and give him hand doing a trial fitting of the new V8 engine.

Hopefully tomorrow, there'll be some pics of the old engine coming out.
If anyone wants a 5000 mile 1325cc zuke engine, 5 speed gearbox, 410 t-case and a Trail Tough King Kong t-case, let me know. I'll post a ad later with pics etc.

Hi Tim -
If the Land Cruiser axles can't cope with the power, then I'll eat my hat !

Richie, it was an Australian spanner, watch out it doesn't come round and hit you in the back of the head
And in answer to your question, nope, keeping the SWB chassis as is.

Hi Adam - joking aside, got a link to the SU info? - I've never had an SU engined motor before, always been a Webber man myself!

Glad to see that after all the cr*p you still have your sense of humour!
This is a conversion I have often thought about as I am a bit of a V8 fan myself (I used to run a 230hp V8 powered 110) Best of luck
Tim

What Tony hasn't mentioned above is that it took him an hour to under th propshaft bolts. Seems they were a little bit tight

Tim,
I've always got a sense of humour, just appears that some others don't
Maybe you'll consider doing the V8 conversion after Tony and I have done Little Toe ?
Cheers

Rover engine is too heavy for what it gives out for what I do. When I get the suspension right I will consider a redtop, I have a brand new Carlton gearbox ready for the conversion.

Hi Danny,
It's not luck we need, just a bigger hammer
I don't suppose you know if the rear Land Cruiser diff will fit into Hi-Lux rear axle?
Cheers

shaun i do know and its a yes because that diff is from a d4d hilux i just so happen to know where there is a disk brake rear axle with centre diff and the correct shape for a diff locked diff to bolt into. i will see if he wants to sell the rest of the axle as he only needs the diff.

Silver zuk.
I don't think I'll have a problem with the engine twisting the chassis, as the exo-cage I've got is welded to the chassis in ten places. Think of it more as a space frame chassis, than the original ladder chassis which has zero torsional rigidity.
