Hi Chris,
Low ratio in 1st will be something in the order of 25:1, but will need to check on the Vit auto box ratio's
Cheers

I make this 88.5:1, which at 1000rpm at the crankshaft is about one rev every five seconds.
If you've a 35" tyre each revolution is 2.8 metres per revolution. Therefore your speed will be a healthy half a metre per second or just over one mile per hour.
You could exceed walking pace by thrashing the engine...
I think a scarier figure is the torque at the axle if you stall the wheel, which I don't even want to think about working out. Toyota axles are strong, but are they that strong?

Yeah I make it 88.425:1 too
So at 1000RPM with his 37" Tyres he is gonna be doing 1.245mph
Still quite fast really.....
The yanks reckon 250:1 for proper rock crawling but I think we're safe in this country....
This is what I was building....
But I gave that up!

I calculated that with standard vehicle parts I could achieve 900+:1 ratio!!
but my project is currently going to be....
with vit diffs
fairly respectable I believe

the triple i built was
3.652:1 1st
1.816:1 low
1.816:1 low
4.16:1 low
5.125 diff
Gives a final of 256.773:1
The one in mine is
3.652:1
1.816:1
4.16:1
4.56:1
=125.8:1
Thats plenty imo .
That makes the high box spot on for 33/35's on the road.

You can reduce that much more nat. That figure would be true for a manual box but an auto is only just getting grip in the torque coverter at 1000rpm.
At a guess at 1000rpm your final could be as high as 200:1 reduceing as the rev's increase.
Like i said thats good for an auto.
