Because of the critical nature of the timing belt this one occasion I would play safe and recommend main dealer. If you want to use an alternative source I suggest that you use a Gates belt, although other major brand names should be OK too, but steer clear of unknown makes.

I tend to draw a distinction between a mail dealer and a specialist garage. You get LR original quality from a LR dealer, but usually end up paying through the nose for it. I would always recommend buying spares from a specialst LR garage which has a good local reputation. These places will sell you components of the same quality that they themselves fit. Since the last thing they want is a job returned as faulty, you can be resonably confident that you will get good value for money with their spares.

Just to put things into perspective, Landrover don't manufacture belts so any of the reputable suppliers would be acceptable. Dealers would add a premium to any suppliers costs.
Keep well under the recommended belt change miles/ period and you should have no problems.
Do change the woodruff key, tensioner and oil seals to ensure belt does not get contaminated leading to premature failure.
Do set up the timing accurately and you will have peace of mind.

there are only 2 companies in the world that make cam timing belts, DAYCO and GATES .
whatever belt you buy it will be made by either company .
if you buy a genuine landrover belt it will be made by one of those companies .
the DAYCO belts as sold by paddockspares are perfectly fit for use on 300tdi or 200tdi engines .
i have personally fitted many timing belts made by dayco and none have failed .
on a 300tdi you should change the belt at least every 20,000 miles if you want to live on the safe side .
i change my timing belt once a year and i do less than 10k per year ..

there is overkill and overkill.
60 K is fine for an interval...... here i am trying to save the planet one brick at a time and your throwing belts away.......

Sorry but not true. Both of the above companies make excellent quality belts and are the "standards", but there are lots of other companies who make them and while some are of high quality, others may not be and it will be hard to know.
Just a three examples of automotive timing belt manufacturers who sell worldwide and are based in China:
Zhejiang ZEC Group Auto Dept.
Ningbo Jin Mao Auto Parts Co.Ltd
Comarch Industrial Co. Ltd
