I`m in the process of building my overlander now (gr troll) and I will be using 70 l fiamma tank as main tank and 30l aux tank for shower.
Didnt think about purification yet so will be happy to see some info here.

Hmmm
I had a look on fiamma tank once and it looked quite solid. Mine will be fitted into camping/drawer setup so wont bounce about.
Other option involved some marine water tanks (eg. Vetus) but I`ve seen a few and there is not much diffrence between fiama and marine tanks.
I think I will go with fiama + aux (total 100l capacity + another 15l canister in "cooking stuff" alloy chest).
Will try to make it safe and secure but I`m mainly worried about lack of baffles in the water tank which can be dangerous sometimes.
Will try and report.
I`m going po post a build thread of my Nissan as soon as I start work (Just gathereing parts and planning / drawing now)

I have a 130 litre stainless steel tank on the floor under the 2nd row seats in my Defender:
Filter is a Nature Pure unit. And it is a real sub-micron water purifier not just a filter (it will fiter out bacteria and other contaminants that standard filters will not stop) Don't even consider anything else!
You can get just the filter with tubes or a kit with the tap too. But you need to also fit a pump to force the water through the filter.

Try C.A.K. Tanks: http://www.caktanks.co.uk/
They have a comprehensive range of water systems for various applications.

We opted for Jerry cans as if you get one lot of dodgy water you've hopefully still got some that's not so bad. allows the weight to be spread around a bit too and you can put them on the roof in the sun and have a hot shower.
As for purification we have a brownchurch waterfilter in the truck, filters down to something very small with an activated carbon filter. Wasn't cheep but the amount of crud and stuff (including a worm) we found whilst cleaning it out was quite a surprise, the filter kept it out of us though.

Simon
2 questions:
1. can You tell me more about the filter setup? Are You filtering whole tank (water running in loop through filter) or You just filter what coming out? also how did You found water pump slow enough for this filter 1.9 l/min flow rate?
2. where was Your tank made?
thanks
Raf

From my attempts at building a camper van I would recommend the CAK tanks as they do a whole range of shapes and sizes. They are tough also as they can be fitted underneath a van (not appropriate for a 4 wheel drive perhaps, but just an example of their strength).
Perhpas two small tanks would be better than one large tank as this would give you a baffle effect and a back-up, and also a gauge - when one runs out you know that you still have a second.
I am considering using a hand pump/tap arrangement as this would give a slow rate of flow for a filter but is also less likely to go wrong/easier to fix.

I will defo have 2 separate tanks. One about 70-100 liters as my main tank for drinking / cooking and another about 30 liters tank for shower. I will be using heat exchanger so it would be pointless to heat whole big tank.
I`m also looking at CAK at the moment but will probably end up having the big tank fabricated so it fits under the second row of seats.
