We've had this HIAB for yonks
Which is a 130 - about the second smallest they make (~1.5 Ton / Metre). We used it with a 12V power pack as a floor crane when assembling the mog.
Anyway, we've been wanting to fit it to the back of Ingrid for a long time - it's always useful to be able to lift things.
I built a pair of boxes for the back bed last year, and it's supposed to look like this
The boxes look like this. When I made the bed a coupla years ago I braced the "U" channel quite substantially, and beefed up one of the articulated mountings.
The problem is, the HIAB is quite heavy, and tall. It firstly wouldn't get into/out of either of our garages, plus it would really screw up the centre of gravity on and off road.
So my cunning plan is to make it foldable. It folds down on two pintle pins and then two more are fitted (ahem, with a hammer) to hold it vertical. This is it having the sleeve welded through both parts.
This is the subframe bolted to the HIAB
And the bottom
And fitted with the front hinge pins
Front the side
From the back
So, just got to get a 24V power pack and I'm away.

Looking very handy Shaggy. Are you adding any legs at the rear to stop the front end lifting while craning?

I can't figure a reasonable way to make actual legs, so the current plan is to go with a pair of Hi-Lift jacks loosely attached at the top. It will be a fine balance to have enough weight on the axle, but not too much.
Frankly, I don't expect to use it at full load, most things we have are lighter than that.

looking good can be very handy having a hiab like this morning when i was doing the axel swap on mogwhy
any how jim ive striped the drum brakes off the 404 if you want the shoes/wheel cylinders and handbrake cables give me a shout im going onto disc's cos im lazy and carnt be bothered stripping drums down after every mudy playday

Any top tips on finding a 24V hydraulic pump, I'm struggling at the moment.

Jim,
If you have a hard time finding a 24V pump, have you considered setting up a 12V circuit? I set up a split system on mine, the majority is 24V, but a few bobs and bits needed 12V (like the electronic ignition conversion). It is simple effective, and generally cheaper than the 24V bits.

Yeah, we discussed that - my co-owner was keen to do it ages ago, but I don't like the idea. Generally, I think it's additional stuff to break. With an electro hydraulic setup, it's nice to be able t charge the batteries whilst you're using it (intermittently), so the additional reserve of two batteries is useful, and I only want one charger. I do have a reasonably large 24V -> 12V converter, but can't bring myself to use it :)
Just a month or two ago, there were 3 of them on fleabay in a month, but I was skint then.
We have a 24V magnetic clutch pump that I got to run an eventual winch, I might just fit that in the short term.

Dont get me wrong, I run BOTH 24V and 12V on mine. I simply pulled a 10 gauge wire from the first batter (12V) and brought it forward to a relay switch. I used a 24V wire from the ignition to activate the relay so it is only hot while the motor is running. (The 24V wire activating the relay does not affect the 12V output of the circuit) I use this circuit to run the electronic ignition, and additional power supply (cigarette lighter style) so I can plug in a tom tom sat nav or stereo. The rest of the truck remains 24V, lamps, charging system, original generator and all.
