|

Hi guys I'm new here. Usually I appear on the Suzuki part of the forum but I am considering moving into the big boy territory with a larger oil burning 4x4.
Does anyone run their 300TDi on veggie oil? Any advice for someone who might think that's a good idea?
Much appreciated!
Guy

Keeping it standard with some AT's at some point. |

I do, normally up to 50% mix, normally used cooking oil, filtered twice. Just replace the fuel filter before you start using, change as often as you need. More power especially when cold, smoother & quieter but the smell makes toy hungry! Leave engine to warm up or white smoke for a mile or two from cold, otherwise no problem. Some people use new oil but I get mine second hand regularly.

Been running my Disco 300tdi on veg oil for a couple of years.I use waste veg oil filtered when I can get hold of it.I mix petrol with the veg oil to thin it out .
I ran a duel tank setup for a while but found the fuel valve unreliable so went back to single tank system.

Been running on 50-70% SVO for a few years. just rember to carrey a spare filter.
No rewal problems apart from having to change engine oil often as it washes past the bores.
Cold weather isnt so good but it works down to about 5 degrees C. Remeber to not store your LR with high SVO content as it waxes in the injection pump in cold weather.
Go for it saves money on a long run.

I'm running about 90% SVO in my 200 just now, will reduce it to 50% in the winter!
