I've been monitoring the price of veg oil in my area and it has risen across the board by around 20% in the last month alone. cheapest 3 litre bottle I can find is now £3.49 at tesco - but they never have it in stock!

Then I found 1 litre bottles still at 95p at Lidl. So i filled a trolley with 60 of them!

Obviously the big supermarkets have realised that we're buying it in bulk as the price has shot up and they're still selling out. How long will it take Lidl to catch on too I wonder?

What is everyone else paying and where from?

I'm lucky. I can get SVO for £0 81 ppl at the moment in 3 litre bottles. (£2 43) but that's wholesale rate, It retails at £0 92 (£2 76).
Helps to have a shop keeper as a friend.
Diesel here is £2 27.9 at Tesco. A local independant is on at £2 29.9

Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad B*******! Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

Lidl have been selling 1 litre bottles of SVO for 95p for ages and I've been buying 30 litres every Saturday.

Last week the price suddenly leapt to £1.25 but it was being offered as a 'special offer deal' at £1.15 !!!

so how does adding 20p constitute a special offer - surely thats illegal!?

I just did the weekly shop in ASDA by work and noticed a 15L drum of "pure veg oil" for £0.98 per litre
It was the cheapest of the oil on the shelves.

I haven't used veg oil yet, but at that price and Diesel at £1.30.9 / litre, i'm getting on that band wagon.

I have to run an errand tonight which takes me past an ASDA, so i'm off in to buy a few 15L drums of the stuff

Jus come back from Makro with a car load... 89ppl for KTC 20l Drums in boxes.
But if you bought more than 10 it went up to 99ppl!!!!

They had 15l drums in boxes of KTC Rapeseed too for 93ppl - Almost worth it for the better oil....

thats where i get mine from.
the ktc rapeseed is noticeably thinner at room temp - so thats the stuff i use.
I have used the ktc 20l stuff, its based on modified GM soya oil. Smells more than the rape oil and when the engine is totally cold i found it hunted a little bit when feathering the throttle at low speeds (eg 25mph in 3rd trickling along in traffic).
Once warmed up it was ok - just smelly.

Morrisons dino juice is now 121.9P/l
if it continues to go down like that - i may jsut swap back to regular diesel or run a weak mix of SVO (25%) instead of running 75% svo.

You are MUCH better off using rapeseed or Sunflower oil in a TDI engine.

The Soya oil is terrible for polymerising in the injector tips... Its not nice oil.

However I consider burning it to be the best thing for GM Soya!

I would just like to point out that when i just checked the KTF veg oil (15 litre drums) from asda, i was highly disappointed to find that it is now £1.18 per litre.

Looks like the days of buying it off the shelf are over. Good job i still have 30 litres @ 97p per litre in my shed. That should keep me going for a bit

This is truly a sad day Sad

I've just been down to York and bought 400 Litres at 80ppl of Brand new cold Pressed Rapeseed.

Should keep me going for a bit Cool

http://www.vegoilservices.co.uk/

Be aware that he can't fill anything smaller than a 205 Litre Clip top Drum.

I thought I'd get it at this price seeing as Makro was 89ppl and Its not been the best harvest so I'd guess it might go up...

Should've had 1000l when it was 55ppl! Rolling Eyes
