Apparently the designers of the Lada set it up so that once the fuel guage reads just below the E line, the gas tank really is empty! Took it out last night to check the aiming on the lights, and made it 3 houses down the street and no more gas!! So, I guess it's time to start watching the guages!!!

I found with my Ladas that, when that light stays on, and doesn't go out on the straight, you MUST fill up VERY soon!! It means it!

Ciao team,

I used the trip meter to gauge how much fuel is left in the tank.

The fuel gauge and tank sender unit are a bad match for this vehicle.
The gauge is to fast in its action.

It has no physical internal resistance in its movement hence with every corner or curve one drives it registers a different fuel level reading.

The fuel tank has little or no baffles hence alot of sloshing and waves of fuel aggravate the sender unit which in turn affects the fast action gauge.

The fuel tank lacks good breathing from the small breather pipes.

The filler cap/neck is not elevated high enough from the fuel tank to allow the tank to accept a reasonable flow of fuel when filling up at the gas station.

I swear I should take a fold up chair along to sit on while trying to fill the tank to the brim.
