One of my C303's gave me a nasty surprise the other day. Sad I got Andy to bring it into the workshop as we are about to start the roll cage the next day. In the morning the contents of the sump were decorating the workshop floor! It looks like the sump has rotted through between the bash plate and the sump its self. (I blame Andy's driving of course)
I'll be getting it off for a better look later, but I'm not sure what to do. I could possibly weld repair it, but I don't want a sump failure in the middle of Russia if the rest of the sump is headed the same way??
I'll be on the phone to Volvo later to price up a new one........I'll make sure I'm sitting down when I do. Laughing

Lovely jubbly.....How much then?

I'm still tempted to source a new one if they are available, but a second hand one would get it back on the road in time for Billing. Wink

I might need your yelp in the future when I get round to sorting the Megajolt ignition for my V8. I am going to need an EDIS-8 module and they are quite expensive over here as they are not that common.

Thanks Dennis. It is a project that I would like to do this summer. I'll be in touch.

Paul
Why not look at 123ignition? It's dead easy to use and made a massive difference to my TGB13. More power, smoother running and far better fuel consumption and all for £220. It's a complete new distributor.

Another advantage of 123 ignition is not only does do away with points but it also does away with the mechanical and vacuum advance mechanisms. It achieves this with full electronic control of this function. As I understand it it can feel knock impulses per cylinder and act appropriately. It has a host of advance curve to choose from, as well as a dedicated LPG curve.

I know nothing about Megajolt ignition, perhaps this has similar functions.

What is confidence inspiring is that when you read the instructions and read the application list you don't get 4/6/8 cylinders as the only options but B30 , B30 with LPG, B30A B30A with LPG ...... Volvo TGB11/13/20 and Volvo TGB11/13/20 with LPG .....

Big thank you to Richard for getting the sump to me so quickly (22 hours after I put the phone down Mr. Green ).
Cheers mate. Cool

The Kingpin bearing kit looks very good. I'll add photos when we fit it. Very Happy

Andy and I have started pulling parts off the 303 in the hope of giving it a little tidy up.

The plan is:
Modify the 303 steel rims to give better backspacing,
Fit beadlocks,
Make a cab cage/tree protection bar,
re-paint body,
New brake hoses(i'll get to that in a new thread),
Re trim the interior and fit the 4 reclining bucket seats that have been cluttering the workshop for ages,
Sort out the PTO winch fairlead as the one fitted is a terrible bodge,
and I'm considering adding a couple of small winches front and rear to compliment the PTO unit?? I was thinking of a couple of EPI9's or similar. I did have a big 15000lb Champion, but it was far too big and would have ruined the approach angle so I didn't fit it.

It should look quite good when done....I hope.
