I have V8 on lpg has full service history on both lpg system as well as on engine etc, also have fitting cert from when fitted in 2006. Insurance did not want to see certs but did ask about them so I suppose if claim made they would want to see them. My log book has not been changed to say its LPG and still says petrol, do I need to change the log book or not?

Yes, its a good idea, send the log book off with the change written on it and with some proof that it was done, they won't do it without some form of proof, IE the fitting certificate for the kit.

Nope. I asked the DVLA, and they said they only put LPG on the V5 if it is fitted when first registered.

You get no reduction in road tax, so I don't think there is much point persuing it.

I had it changed for my Merc G wagen that I converted myself, had to send them proof of it being done and they sent it back with the fuel type as Petrol/LPG.

Don't forget that doing this will allow you to avoid the congestion charge in Cities.
But could make Eurotunnel travel difficult....

Ah, fair comment, I might have to pressure them to change mine if they bring in the congestion charge in Manchester!

Given the governments tendency to pass ever more retrospective laws, I'd recommend getting the V5 updated as soon as practical.

It might never be any use at all, or it might one day for some people. Did you know residents in Sheffield get free parking for just this Smile

You’ll need to tell the DVLA about the following changes to your vehicle:
...
fuel type (propulsion)
...

Later on it says -

DVLA will need written confirmation of changes to fuel type for vehicles registered after 1 March 2001 ...

which is a bit ambiguous. Rolling Eyes However, as it is MANDATORY to update the fuel type for pre-2001 as well, there's no harm in providing the extra
written confirmation (LPGA cert, receipts, etc) for those too.

Shame on you
The Road Vehicles (Registration and Licensing) Regulations 2002
16. - (1) Where any alteration is made to a vehicle so as to make any of the particulars set out in the registration document incorrect, the registered keeper shall deliver to the Secretary of State -
(a) notification of the alteration;
(b) except where the registration document is lost, stolen or destroyed, the registration document.

cheers, Ross K
