Hi guys,

Wondering about running my Yota 2.4 Td on some hydraulic oil I've, er, found. Cool

I know diesel engines will run pretty much on most oil based substances but I'm concerned with long term effects, whether I should mix it with regular fossil diesel or just run neat, or, or... or what.

Will it smoke like an OAP on 50 a day - I know when I drove my truck up a very steep incline it suddenly began to run on it's own engine oil which smoked terribly... and scared the pooh out of me as it revved right up and didn't wanted to stop!?

Interesting idea Graham but I'll let you try it first. Laughing

How much is hydraulic oil these days?

Actually most hydraulic oils burn lovely in a diesel, no smoke or loss of power...
Smells like Castrol R when mixed with veggie...

But you need to declare road duty on it for every litre you use - its not covered under the 2500 veggie limit.

Lovely thanks Nat... I shall trundle off and find out how to declare my duty on it now.
